Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones told the team's flagship radio station that he will make an announcement regarding its head coaching position perhaps as early as Tuesday, Jan. 4, according to Calvin Watkins, of ESPNDallas.com. "We had a real busy day yesterday in that regard and we'll have another busy one (Tuesday)," Jones told KRLD-FM. "(We spent) quite a bit of time on the matter last night regarding coach and coaching staff, (and) interviews that are required in the NFL. We'll be moving at a real fast pace. I think we'll have a lot of this done by the afternoon here (Tuesday). We've been working hard overnight got a lot setup, we probably won't really be ready to talk about this until tomorrow some time." Jones was scheduled to interview wide receivers coach Ray Sherman Tuesday, Jan. 4, but multiple sources said interim head coach Jason Garrett is the favorite to get the job.

As of Monday, Jan. 3, Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones had yet to conduct a single interview regarding the team's head coaching vacancy partly because he spent the day saying goodbye to the team and going over the roster with interim head coach Jason Garrett, according to a source, reports Clarence E. Hill, Jr., of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Garrett is expected to get the job at some point this week; however, Jones must interview at least one minority candidate to adhere to the NFL's Rooney Rule before giving the job to Garrett. Jones said he would interview receivers coach Ray Sherman.
