The Dallas Cowboys have several assistant coaches without a contract for 2012, and head coach Jason Garrett is hopeful they'll be able to return. Secondary coach Dave Campo, Running game/offensive line coach Hudson Houck, Secondary/safeties coach Brett Maxie, assistant offensive line coach Wesley Phillips, offensive quality control/wide receivers coach Keith O'Quinn and running backs coach Skip Peete are the coaches who are without a deal. "I feel great about our staff and how we've worked really hard, and again, we'll address that at a later time," Garrett said Monday, Jan. 2.

Len Pasquarelli, of ESPN.com, reports the Miami Dolphins will rely on offensive line coach Hudson Houck to mold what is expected to be a reshuffled offensive line in 2006, with the additions of OT L.J. Shelton (Browns) and OG Bennie Anderson (Bills), while C Rex Hadnot has moved to center and OG Seth McKinney has moved over to right guard. "It's the position on your staff where a good, detailed [assistant coach] can make the biggest difference," Dolphins head coach Nick Saban said of Houck's importance. "By definition, any offensive line coach is working with the poorest athletes on your football team. But by creating camaraderie, working on technique, motivating, he can make guys better collectively than they probably are as individuals."

Greg A. Bedard, of the Palm Beach Post, reports Miami Dolphins OT L.J. Shelton said one reason he signed with the team was offensive line coach Hudson Houck. Houck is considered one of the league's best offensive line coaches. Shelton said, "Just working with him a few weeks, I already know it's going to be a benefit to me."

Citing the Los Angeles Times, Alex Marvez, of the Miami Sun-Sentinel, reports the Miami Dolphins have hired Tim Davis as their new assistant offensive line coach. Davis, who will work alongside offensive line coach Hudson Houck, served as USC's offensive line coach for the past two seasons.

Updating a previous report, Jim Trotter, of the San Diego Union-Tribune, reports the contract signed by Miami Dolphins offensive line coach Hudson Houck is a three-year deal that amounts to $2.5 million. The deal makes Houck the second-highest paid offensive line coach in the NFL.
