Mlive.com reports Detroit Lions WRs Scottie Vines, David Kircus, Steve Savoy and Paris Hamilton are all battling for the fifth and possibly last wide receiver spot. All four looked good during workouts Friday, July 29. As noted earlier Vines injured his thumb, but he's expected back quickly.

Gil Brandt, of NFL.com, reports Utah WR Steve Savoy (5-11, 192) was clocked at 4.77 and 4.70 in the 40-yard dash. He previously ran 4.58 and 4.65 times at the NFL Combine. He had a 4.27 short shuttle, 11.71 long shuttle, 7.31 three-cone drill, a 32-inch vertical jump and a 9-foot-1 long jump.

NCAA | Savoy Granted Eligibility for NFL Draft

The NFL has announced Utah WR Steve Savoy has been granted special eligibility for the 2005 NFL Draft. Savoy has met the league's three-year eligibility rule and has submitted a written application in which he renounced his remaining college football eligibility.
