The Associated Press reports former New Orleans Saints QB Adrian McPherson is suing the Tennessee Titans because the team's mascot hit him with a golf cart during an exhibition game in August. McPherson filed the civil lawsuit in Davidson County Circuit Court. He is seeking $5 million in compensatory damages for the team's negligence and $15 million in punitive damages.

Head coach Sean Payton said there was no change from the initial diagnosis of a bruised bursar, or an inflammation of a sack of fluid behind the knee cap. The injury has prevented McPherson from practicing and is expected to keep him out of Monday night's preseason game, Aug. 21.

The injury was diagnosed as a knee bruise, but McPherson hasn't been able to straighten his right leg since the incident. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said the league's football operations department investigated the incident and sent a memo to all 32 teams reminding them that mascots must stay behind the six-foot white border surrounding the field at all times. He will begin working Tuesday, Jan. 3, with Steve DeBerg, his former head coach with the Arena Football League's Indiana Firebirds. "A heavy dose of off-season training, I can tell you that much," McPherson said on what his future holds. "I feel like I need to get better, and I know that's the guy who's going to push me to the limit and push me to get better every day." He did not play at all during the 2005 season, but he does not consider the season a waste. McPherson said the biggest lesson he learned this season was patience. The Saints haven't told McPherson whether or not he will be going to play in NFL Europe to gain more experience.

Sheldon Mickles, of the Advocate, reports with his team officially eliminated from the NFC playoff race, New Orleans Saints head coach Jim Haslett said he's going to do the only thing he can at this point - try and win football games. To that end, Haslett said he plans to keep QB Aaron Brooks in as his starting quarterback. Haslett was asked Monday, Dec. 5, if he had any plans to move up third-string QB Adrian McPherson for the final four games of the 2005 season due to Brooks' struggles. "Off of the top of my head, I would say no," Haslett said of moving McPherson, a fifth-round draft pick this spring, ahead of Todd Bouman in the quarterback pecking order. "We haven't really sat down and discussed it, but I would say no." Haslett didn't say if Bouman would get a chance to get some snaps in the final four games.
