Washington Redskins OT Jammal Brown's contract is set to automatically void Friday, Feb. 8, which will make him an unrestricted free agent this offseason. He was scheduled to count $4.6 million against the salary cap next season but will count $3.3 million in dead money in 2013.

The Washington Redskins did not activate OT Jammal Brown (hip) from the Physically-Unable-to-Perform (PUP) list by the deadline Tuesday, Nov. 27, and he is now on the season-ending Injured Reserve list.

The Washington Redskins will have to decide whether to add OT Jammal Brown (hip) to their active roster by Tuesday, Nov. 27, but it appears that he will be placed on Injured Reserve after missing practice Monday, Nov. 26. He has been on the Physically Unable to Perform list but was able to practice the last few weeks.

Washington Redskins OT Jammal Brown (hip) said he was encouraged by his first practice after hip surgery Monday, Nov. 12. "I feel a lot looser, could move a lot more," Brown said. "I'll know better after a week or so, how it feels. But I feel good. It was a great day for me." Brown does not have a target date for his return but is hoping to play this season. "As soon as possible … The Redskins are trying to be cautious, but I hope they're not too cautious," Brown said. "I want to get out there as soon as possible. Help my team."

Washington Redskins OT Jammal Brown (hip) is pain-free and has improved flexibility, according to head coach Mike Shanahan. The Redskins have two weeks to activate him from the Physically Unable To Perform list.
