Richard Justice, of the Houston Chronicle, reports free-agent TE Kevin Everett (neck) said he is still feeling the effects of his spine injury from Week 1 of the 2007 season. "It's the spasms," Everett said. "They say it could be like this for the rest of my life. They don't know. I'm not 100 percent. I don't know if I'll ever be 100 percent. I've just got to pray every day and try to keep doing the right things." Everett also said he can barely write and gets tired very easily during the day.

ESPN.com reports the Buffalo Bills placed TE Kevin Everett on the team's waived/physical list Tuesday, May 13, enabling him to pursue long-term disability benefits from the National Football League, according to The Buffalo News. Now that he has been officially waived, Everett may apply for a long-term disability payment of $224,000 per year over the life span of his injury.

The Associated Press reports Buffalo Bills TE Kevin Everett (neck) had minor neck surgery to relieve pain in his neck, which is related to the severe spinal cord injury that almost paralyzed him last season. "He's doing OK," Eric Armstead said. Armstead is an attorney and associate of Everett's agent, Brian Overstreet. The surgery was scheduled for Tuesday, April 8, but was pushed up to Monday, April 7.

The Associated Press reports a golf tournament and tailgate party are planned to benefit Buffalo Bills TE Kevin Everett's Foundation. Everett's foundation was started to advance spinal cord injury research. The Kevin Everett Golf Classic and 12th Man Tailgate Party will take place July 6 and July 7.

Albert Breer, of The Dallas Morning News, reports Buffalo Bills TE Kevin Everett has been nominated as a finalist for the Halas Award. The Halas Award is given to the player that overcame the most in the NFL to succeed, as voted on by the Pro Football Writers Association.

Sal Maiorana, of the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, reports Buffalo Bills TE Kevin Everett has written a book with Philadelphia Inquirer sports columnist Sam Carchidi entitled "Standing Tall: The Kevin Everett Story." Everett will appear on the Oprah Winfrey show Thursday, Jan. 31. The book will look into Everett's entire life and then recount the traumatic injury he suffered Sept. 9. It will also detail the measures taken to save his life and the recovery he has made.
