Steelers | Heath Miller likes TE corps

Mon, 17 Jun 2013 15:14:19 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Heath Miller (knee) said he likes the tight ends on the roster and believes they can all contribute to the team. "We have a really good room, a lot of capable guys in there," Miller said. "I think maybe one of the best top to bottom that I've been starting camp with. Hopefully we'll be able to keep everybody healthy, and I think everybody is capable of contributing and doing a good job." There is a strong possibility that Miller will not be ready for the start of the regular season.

Steelers | Matt Spaeth understands role

Sun, 16 Jun 2013 20:45:47 -0700

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers TE Matt Spaeth might start the regular season as a starter if TE Heath Miller (knee) is not ready. However, he is considered a strong blocking tight end, which would help trigger the running back. He understands he probably won't see the ball as much as Miller did even as a starter. "I'm a role guy, and I know I've got a role, and I never worry about how many balls are being thrown to me," Spaeth said.

Fantasy Tip: Even if Spaeth were able to start in Week 1, his fantasy value would be negligible. He is more of a pass-block specialist rather than a threat in the receiving game.

Steelers | Heath Miller might not be ready for opener

Sun, 16 Jun 2013 20:44:51 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Heath Miller (knee) is out indefinitely following knee surgery, and there is a strong chance he will not be ready for the start of the regular season.

Fantasy Tip: If Miller is not ready, Matt Spaeth is likely to slide into a starting role until the veteran Miller can get back in the lineup. Miller is still considered a Top 15 fantasy option at his position despite his uncertain status for the opener.

Steelers | Heath Miller uncertain about return

Wed, 22 May 2013 12:24:18 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Heath Miller (knee) said he is happy with the progress he has made in his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament but is not sure when he will be able to return. He said he has started to run as part of his rehab. He believes there is a chance he can be ready for the start of the regular season but will know more when training camp begins.

Fantasy Tip: Miller's fantasy value is uncertain at this time because of his recovery. Owners should consider Miller a weak No. 2 tight end option because of the injury as well as the team's inconsistent offense.

Steelers | Heath Miller on schedule in rehab

Sun, 05 May 2013 09:44:15 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said TE Heath Miller (knee) is on schedule in his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Fantasy Tip: There is question as to whether Miller will be ready for the start of the 2013 season because he suffered injury late in the 2012 season. Matt Spaeth likely will be the starter if Miller is not ready for the season. Spaeth should not be on the radar for any fantasy owners.

Steelers | WR a top priority in the draft

Mon, 04 Feb 2013 12:03:41 -0800

The Pittsburgh Steelers will make wide receiver a top priority in this year's draft with TE Heath Miller (knee) injured and WRs Antonio Brown and Emmanuel Sanders both similar receivers that won't strike fear in opposing secondaries due to their lack of threat on the deep routes. California WR Keenan Allen may be a target, as he's considered a top-15 pick. Tennessee WR Cordarrelle Patterson is another prospect expected to be taken in the first round, but he's not as polished as Allen and lacks top-end speed.

Mon, 17 Dec 2012 05:31:28 -0800

Although Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger placed blame on himself for the team's Week 15 loss, he also questioned the playcalling. When asked why TE Heath Miller didn't have a single pass thrown his way in the second half, Roethlisberger replied, "I just don't think we called the right plays to get him the ball." And when asked why the team didn't run more no-huddle offense in the second half, Roethlisberger acknowledged he wished they had done more. "That's tough for me to answer right now," Roethlisberger said. "The second half we didn't do much of it, and that's disappointing."

Sun, 18 Nov 2012 22:41:38 -0800

Fantasy Tip: Miller and QB Byron Leftwich do not have nearly the same rapport as Miller and QB Ben Roethlisberger (shoulder), who was inactive. Miller might be without his starting QB again in Week 12, but he remains a Top 10 fantasy option at his position even with Leftwich at the helm.

Fantasy Tip: Miller's fantasy value might be hurt if QB Ben Roethlisberger (shoulder) is forced to miss any length of time. He would still be worth using in most fantasy leagues, but he would go from a Top 10 fantasy option to Top 15.
