The Green Bay Packers considered signing free-agent RB Willie Parker (Redskins), as well as Justin Fargas (Broncos), Kolby Smith (Chiefs) and J.J. Arrington (Eagles), reports Tom Silverstein, of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. However, general manager Ted Thompson viewed them as poor fits for the team's zone running game.

Indications from the Denver Broncos' minicamp Friday, June 12, is that the team is softening its pursuit of free-agent RB Brian Westbrook (Eagles), according to Bill Williamson, of ESPN.com. The Broncos are now focused on how third-down RB J.J. Arrington fares in training camp. If Arrington suffers an injury setback or if he doesn't perform well, the team could then see if Westbrook is still available.

Peter King, of CNNSI.com, reports RB J.J. Arrington (knee) only cost the Denver Broncos $100,000 because they released him before June. Due to Arrington's pre-existing knee problem, the Broncos had set up a $300,000 roster bonus for him in June. Basically, the Broncos rented him for three months for $100,000 to see if he would be healthy. When it was determined he would not be, they cut ties with him.

James was active for the team's Week 9 game but did not see the field. RB J.J. Arrington served as Hightower's backup during the game. "I want to play, but it's not my style (of game), I don't fit the mold," said a disappointed James after the game. He said that he is going to support Hightower.
