Atlanta Falcons TE Hunter Goodwin has announced his retirement from the NFL, according to AtlantaFalcons.com. Goodwin had signed as a free agent earlier this year after being released by the Minnesota Vikings.

Bill Williamson, of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, reports tight end was one of the Minnesota Vikings' strengths last season as TEs Hunter Goodwin and Jim Kleinsasser emerged in the double-tight end set, when pass-catching specialist TE Byron Chamberlain missed time. The same scenario is in place for the first four games of the 2003 season. Goodwin again will join Kleinsasser in the starting lineup while Chamberlain serves an NFL-mandated suspension for testing positive for ephedra.
