The New York Jets didn't renew the contracts of assistant general manager Scott Cohen and director of football administration Ari Nissim, according to a source. Cohen was former GM Mike Tannenbaum's right-hand man. Nissim handled many of the team's contracts. Several scouts were also let go. Head coach Rex Ryan's role in personnel decisions also appears to be diminished.

New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez could very well be the team's starting quarterback this upcoming season. Sanchez may provide the team's best option at quarterback because QB Geno Smith is considered raw at this point and QB David Garrard is 35 years old and hasn't played an NFL game since 2010. Head coach Rex Ryan is likely coaching for his job this year, so he likely will pick the starting quarterback who will best help him win games in the short term.

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said the team has viable options at quarterback heading in to 2013 that it did not have in previous seasons. "Maybe there wasn't viable options before. Well there's certainly viable options now," Ryan said.
Fantasy Tip: With Sanchez, Geno Smith, and David Garrard all in the fold, the team has plenty of options if whoever wins the starting job struggles out of the gate in 2013.

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan avoided a direct answer when asked if he wanted QB Tim Tebow on the roster. "Tim's under contract," Ryan said, "and I also understand that this is the early stages of building our roster, so we'll let it play out and we'll see what happens. I think it's more important to play this whole thing out and see where it takes us in the offseason."

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan refuted all talk of a trade involving CB Darrelle Revis, or anyone else on his roster. "I've never had one conversation with anybody about trading any of our players," Ryan said. "That's got to obviously go through John [Idzik]. But I will say this -- I believe that the Jets, I know and I've always said it, we're not actively looking to trade Darrelle. Wherever this is coming from, I don't believe it's coming from the New York Jets. Does that mean he's going to be traded or not? Hey, that's just speculation."
