"I took the necessary steps, like counseling and creating a support group," said Hunter. "I started hanging around good people. I really do think it's working." Hunter is currently living with Jaguars WR Chad Owens, who Hunter has known since high school. Hunter also played college ball with Owens and teammate OG Vincent Manuwai at Hawaii. Hunter hopes the off-field changes can help him on the field. "I think I could be a dominant player. That's in my hands, too. I have to show (Jaguars) coach (Jack Del Rio) he can depend on me," Hunter said. "It's my problem. It's nobody else's."

Bart Hubbuch, of the Florida Times-Union, reports Jacksonville Jaguars FB Derrick Wimbush (arm) said he would need surgery to repair a broken bone in his left arm. Wimbush, a backup fullback who doubles as a kickoff returner, would not specify the exact injury but said the imminent surgery could cause him to miss training camp and the preseason. "I'm going to give it 100 percent to be back in time (for training camp), but we'll see," said Wimbush. He said the injury occurred Thursday, June 1, near the end of a voluntary team workout. If Wimbush is slow to come back, the Jaguars have options at returner in RB LaBrandon Toefield, WR Troy Edwards, WR Chad Owens and second-round draft pick RB Maurice Drew.

Stephen Tsai, of the Honolulu Advertiser, reports Jacksonville Jaguars rookie WR/KR Chad Owens has been told he will compete as a returner during training camp, which opens Friday, July 29. "That's what they drafted me for," he said. "That's what I'm ready to do." Owens is also working on his pass routes. "If the opportunity comes to play receiver, that's better than what I expected," he said. "I'm working my butt off as a receiver." Owens said he has added some "good weight" to his frame. He weighed between 170 and 175 pounds as a college senior, but he said he now weighs 185.
