Mon, 20 May 2013 13:16:57 -0700 Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington said INFs Jurickson Profar and Leury Garcia will split time at second base with 2B Ian Kinsler (intercostal) on the disabled list. Garcia started at second Sunday, May 19. Profar hit two home runs with Triple-A Round Rock Saturday, May 18, to extend his hitting streak to eight games. He had 14 hits in his last 33 at-bats with six runs, two doubles, three home runs and eight RBIs. Profar is likely to go back to the minors when Kinsler returns, because the team wants him playing every day. Manager Ron Washington said Kinsler could be out only five to six days. Fantasy Tip: Profar should be owned in all leagues, even if his stay in the majors is short-lived this time around. Kinsler is known to be a slower healer, though, so that could buy Profar a little more time.
Sun, 19 May 2013 13:50:28 -0700 The Texas Rangers have placed 2B Ian Kinsler (intercostal) on the 15-day disabled list because of a right intercostal strain. In a corresponding move, the team recalled SS Jurickson Profar from Triple-A Round Rock. Fantasy Tip: Owners should look into adding Profar if he is available in their leagues since he will see the majority of time at second base and he is one of the top prospects in the league. It is not known how long Kinsler will be out so owners should look to stash him on their bench or disabled list.
Sun, 19 May 2013 11:51:55 -0700 Updating previous reports, Texas Rangers 2B Ian Kinsler (ribs) will be evaluated Sunday, May 19, to determine if he will be placed on the 15-day disabled list and replaced on the 25-man roster with INF Jurickson Profar. Fantasy Tip: More clarity coming on the status of Profar, widely considered the top prospect in baseball. A roster move is not definite at this point, but if he's unowned in your league, you shouldn't wait for an official transaction to add him everywhere. Even if Kinsler has a short stay on the sidelines, Profar may hold onto a spot somewhere else in the starting lineup if he proves capable of handling big-league action. Plus, it helps to stash him in many formats regardless of his MLB status.
Sun, 19 May 2013 11:42:11 -0700 Texas Rangers 2B Ian Kinsler (ribs) is expected to be placed on the disabled list within the next few days if he is unable to prove that he can swing a bat.
Sat, 18 May 2013 14:11:56 -0700 Texas Rangers 2B Ian Kinsler (ribs) is not in the starting lineup Saturday, May 18.
Sat, 18 May 2013 12:20:43 -0700 Updating a previous report, Texas Rangers 2B Ian Kinsler (ribs) made an appearance as a pinch runner against the Detroit Tigers Friday, May 17. He had been held out of the starting lineup due to bruised ribs.
Fri, 17 May 2013 13:55:57 -0700 Texas Rangers 2B Ian Kinsler (ribs) was scratched from the lineup with bruised ribs Friday, May 17. Fantasy Tip: Kinsler hurt himself during an awkward slide into third base last night. The injury doesn't appear to be very serious, though, so expect him back at some point this weekend.
Fri, 22 Feb 2013 13:50:56 -0800 Texas Rangers 2B Ian Kinsler (ankle) said the sprained right ankle that bothered him since 2010 is no longer a problem. "I'm definitely past that. I haven't had many attempted stolen bases in spring training lately because of that, but it's something I want to practice this spring and get a feel for it. I made an attempt off (Evan) Meek in the intrasquad game, and I felt great. I talk about cheating, there was zero of that. Cheating is over-anticipating. This was read and go." He said his ankle wasn't the reason for his drop in production across the board last year, though.
Tue, 12 Feb 2013 20:05:52 -0800 Texas Rangers OF Engel Beltre, OF Craig Gentry, 2B Ian Kinsler, 1B Mitch Moreland and 3B Mike Olt were among those working out in camp Tuesday, Feb. 12, before the official report date for position players.
Sun, 10 Feb 2013 22:44:14 -0800 In an interview with Dallas radio station KTCK-AM, Texas Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said Rangers 2B Ian Kinsler will stay at that position through the season unless something happens organically to force the switch to a new position. "To answer your question, Ian is our second baseman. Could that change at some point? Only if it happens in really organically. It's not something we're going to manipulate to make happen. Could it change after the year, or in a future year? Yeah. I think that's what we discussed when we signed the deal," Daniels said.
