Packers | Aaron Rodgers and others excused early

Thu, 18 Jun 2015 15:39:51 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers and any Packer with at least six years of experience were excused early from practice Thursday, June 18. Head coach Mike McCarthy said he was pleased with the output they had given and that those who were excused early were still involved with the strength and conditioning and meetings portions of practice.

Fantasy Tip: This isn't too big of a deal, especially on the last day of minicamp. Rodgers and the rest of the veterans should be ready to go once training camp begins in late July. Consider him a top-three fantasy quarterback in 2015.

Packers | Davante Adams praised by Aaron Rodgers

Thu, 11 Jun 2015 20:45:13 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams was praised by QB Aaron Rodgers for his athleticism, and Rodgers said Adams has "humungous upside."

Fantasy Tip: Even as the team's No. 3 receiver, Adams has enough upside in Green Bay's powerful offense to warrant a bench spot on fantasy rosters. Not only will he have some solid games, but he would receive a huge boost in value if either Jordy Nelson or Randall Cobb misses any time.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers to have more control?

Fri, 29 May 2015 21:25:18 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers could have more freedom to change plays at the line of scrimmage this season now that offensive coordinator Tom Clements is calling plays.

Fantasy Tip: Whether he is given more freedom or not, Rodgers is entrenched among the elite fantasy quarterbacks heading into 2015.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers to run pistol often?

Fri, 27 Mar 2015 09:47:30 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers may be regularly in the pistol formation in 2015, according to head coach Mike McCarthy. The Packers used the formation often after Rodgers suffered a calf injury in 2014 in order to take stress off his leg. "I like the pistol," McCarthy said during a break at the NFL owners meetings this week. "I think there's a lot of value regardless of the injury to Aaron. I know he likes it. There's a place for it year-round in your offense." McCarthy hasn't used the pistol formation for a read-option offense, and it's unlikely McCarthy will ask Rodgers to become a read-option quarterback. The pistol formation would add an element of unpredictability to the Packers offense.

Fantasy Tip: The Packers offense should continue to be one of the better units in the NFL again in 2015 with Rodgers at the helm and with Randall Cobb returning. Adding some unpredictability should only help Green Bay's offense be more productive. Rodgers is an elite quarterback and is arguably the top fantasy football quarterback to come off the board.

Packers | More responsibilities for Aaron Rodgers

Tue, 24 Mar 2015 13:23:40 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers has had more freedom to change plays pre-snap in recent seasons, and head coach Mike McCarthy giving up play-calling duties puts even more responsibility in the hands of Rodgers in running the offense. McCarthy and assistant coach Tom Clements will have more preparation to do during the week to make sure Rodgers has plenty of pre-snap options at his disposal. However, it's hard to know how the offensive setup will work with Clements as the primary playcaller.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers has excelled with more responsibilities in his hands regarding the offense. With Randall Cobb coming back in free agency, there's no reason to think Rodgers won't continue to be an elite QB1 from a fantasy perspective. With Drew Brees' team moving to more of a ground attack in 2015, Rodgers might very well be the unquestioned first QB off the board in drafts.

Packers | Coaches torn over backup QB choice

Mon, 09 Feb 2015 23:10:34 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Scott Tolzien and QB Matt Flynn both have boosters among the team's assistant coaches. The coaching staff likes Tolzien's potential, but many like Flynn because he gives a "security blanket feel" to the team. Packers QB Aaron Rodgers has said he would like to see both backups retained.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers says turf caused injury

Thu, 05 Feb 2015 13:52:02 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (calf) said the calf injury he suffered later on in the season was because of the poor surface in Tampa. Rodgers said he thinks the Buccaneers' field should be looked at for improvements, adding that he hurt his shoulder in Tampa in 2008 as well.

Fantasy Tip: Aside from the 2013 season, Rodgers has been extremely healthy throughout his career and maintains top-three fantasy quarterback potential in 2015 as long as he stays healthy.

Sat, 31 Jan 2015 19:41:23 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers was named the 2014 NFL Most Valuable Player by the Associated Press Saturday, Jan. 31.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers was a steady force for fantasy owners this year, and he can safely be penciled in for elite production at the quarterback spot for the foreseeable future.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers still dealing with pain

Sat, 17 Jan 2015 10:41:39 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (calf) said his calf injury was painful the entire game last weekend against the Dallas Cowboys and that it was a little worse after the team's win. Rodgers admitted that it's simply of matter of dealing with the pain, adding that he's having treatment around the clock and the calf will be good Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers ($8,600, 17.2) still showed he can succeed even when he's not at 100 percent, throwing for 316 yards and three touchdowns against Dallas. The fact remains that he could be a risky option for FantasyScore lineups, however. He'll be playing in one of the most hostile environments against one of the stingiest pass defenses in the NFL.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers was limited in practice

Fri, 16 Jan 2015 13:02:59 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (calf), who is listed as probable for the NFC Championship game against the Seattle Seahawks Sunday, Jan. 18, was limited in practice Friday, Jan. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers ($8,600, 17.2% of cap) has been feeling a bit better, but there's no doubt that his calf injury will affect him in the big game Sunday. For that reason, you should be skeptical of using him at FantasyScore against such a great defense in the Seahawks.
