Packers | Aaron Rodgers talks weight loss

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 10:20:20 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers said he weighs less than he has in a long time, but his muscle mass is as strong as it was when he was 10 pounds heavier.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers remains an elite fantasy quarterback worth selecting as one of the first signal callers in drafts. It's likely not worth reading too much into his weight, but a commitment to health and being at his best entering his age-32 season is encouraging for his likelihood to live up to expectations in 2016.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers in great shape

Mon, 25 Jul 2016 11:09:29 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers is in the best shape of his football career, according to head coach Mike McCarthy. Rodgers stopped eating dairy this offseason as part of a more stringent diet.

Fantasy Tip: A healthy Aaron Rodgers is a good Aaron Rodgers. Not only is he in good shape, but he'll have his top receiver back in Jordy Nelson. As is the case in most seasons, Rodgers should be one of the first quarterbacks taken in fantasy drafts.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers, others excused

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 09:23:25 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers and other select veterans have been excused from mandatory minicamp this week by head coach Mike McCarthy. WRs Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson were also included in that group. "The approach is different than the past," McCarthy said. "So, it's obviously tailored toward the younger players." QB Brett Hundley will get most of the work with what is left of the No. 1 offense.

Fantasy Tip: The Packers are playing in the Hall of Fame Game this preseason, so their training camp will begin a week earlier in July than it did a year ago. McCarthy wants to make sure his veterans are well rested. Rodgers remains an elite fantasy QB worth taking in the early rounds, especially since he'll have a healthy Nelson to throw to in 2016.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers changes diet

Mon, 06 Jun 2016 16:24:59 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers said he has removed dairy from his diet in hopes that it will help him stay healthy and extend his career. He said he weighs around 218 pounds at this point, which is his lightest weight since 2007. "I think that's how I can extend my career, if I can eat a little bit better. Because it carries over not just in the offseason, but what you're eating the night before the game and what you're eating in the morning and the afternoon if it's a night game just how that it affects your performance," Rodgers said.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers finished the 2015 season with 3,821 yards and 31 touchdowns and will have Jordy Nelson back from his injury. Rodgers should be a No. 1 quarterback in all leagues as long as he stays healthy.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers recovering nicely

Wed, 23 Mar 2016 09:15:52 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (knee) is on track to work out with minimal limitations during the start of the offseason program next month after having offseason knee surgery. His recovery has gone off without any setbacks, and he's "running around," according to a source at the NFL annual meetings. Rodgers' surgery was "just a cleanup," and head coach Mike McCarthy doesn't think Rodgers will be limited this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers was a disappointment to his fantasy owners last year, but a lot had to do with the fact that he lost Jordy Nelson, his top target, before the season even started. With Nelson coming back, expect Rodgers and Co. to improve in 2016. Rodgers remains a top-tier QB1 that could come at a slight discount.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers will be ready

Thu, 25 Feb 2016 11:09:22 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (knee) is expected to be ready for offseason training activities (OTAs) after having a knee scope, according to head coach Mike McCarthy.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers had a down season in 2015, and it was mainly effected when the Packers lost Jordy Nelson to a serious knee injury in the preseason. Green Bay's offense never took off. With a healthy Nelson back in 2016, expect Rodgers and Co. to bounce-back. He remains an elite QB1.

Packers | Green Bay to add tight end?

Mon, 15 Feb 2016 11:22:10 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers could have a new tight end with some speed this offseason, according to ESPN.com's Rob Demovsky.

Fantasy Tip: Tight end has been somewhat of a weak position for the Packers in recent years. Richard Rodgers held his own in 2015, but Rodgers does need help, even if/when Jordy Nelson makes a full recovery. If the Packers do sign a tight end, Richard Rodgers' fantasy value would be negatively impacted.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers feeling great

Sat, 13 Feb 2016 10:53:05 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (knee) said his knee feels great less than a month after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery. Rodgers added that the surgery was for a clean-up of an old injury.

Fantasy Tip: The fact that Rodgers is playing golf this weekend indicates that he's recovering well from the injury and surgery. He should be good to go for offseason activities if he doesn't suffer any setbacks. As is the case every year when he's healthy, he's a top-tier QB1 for fantasy drafts.

Green Bay Packers backup QB Scott Tolzien, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent in March of 2016, has expressed his desire to become a starter in 2016. The Packers drafted QB Brett Hundley in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft to be QB Aaron Rodgers' long-term backup.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers had knee surgery

Fri, 29 Jan 2016 21:09:31 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (knee) had knee surgery following the loss to the Arizona Cardinals in the divisional round of the playoffs, but he said he is "doing well" and "recovering on schedule."

Fantasy Tip: It doesn't sound like Rodgers is in jeopardy of missing the start of next season, and with Jordy Nelson back in the fold, Rodgers should once again be among the top fantasy options at the quarterback spot.
