Updating a previous report, Todd Archer, of The Dallas Morning News, reports Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said through a spokesman that the Cowboys have no plans of re-signing unrestricted free-agent CB Adam Jones. The Cowboys have not contacted Jones' agent.

Clarence E. Hill Jr., of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, reports Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is open to the possibility of bringing back free-agent CB Adam Jones (Cowboys), even though it is a long shot. When reached in his private suite after the George Strait concert Saturday, June 6, to open the new Cowboys Stadium, Jones asked a reporter, "Would you beat me up too bad if I brought back Adam?" The Cowboys might be hesitant to bring back Jones because it could stunt the progress of CBs Orlando Scandrick and Mike Jenkins.

Calvin Watkins, of The Dallas Morning News, reports free-agent CB Adam Jones has denied a report on ESPN stating he was involved in a shooting outside of an Atlanta night club and plans to sue the network. "It will be a lawsuit in a week against ESPN," Jones said. "That's stupid. It's so stupid I have no more comments."

Updating previous reports, Mac Engel, of the Fort-Worth Star Telegram, reports the Dallas Cowboys released free-agent CB Adam Jones (Cowboys) because of a story that ESPN was going to air, which alleges Jones being involved in a shooting in the Atlanta area while he was suspended as a member of the Tennessee Titans. The Cowboys have saved $1 million in cap space because of the release.

ESPN.com reports "Outside the Lines" reporter John Barr contacted the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys and free-agent CB Adam Jones' (Cowboys) lawyers about a piece scheduled to air Sunday, Jan. 11, in which three men from the Atlanta area allege Jones arranged for someone to shoot at them two months after Jones was suspended in 2007. The June 2007 shooting occurred outside of a suburban Atlanta strip club. One of the shooting victims said he had a dispute with Jones inside the strip club and not long after he and the two others left the club, a hail of bullets struck the car. The NFL knew about the incident, but charges were never brought against anyone because the victims did not see the shooter. Police were told by an informant that Jones ordered the shooting after the dispute. Police have said the case remains open, but they are not actively investigating it.
