Seahawks | Starting MLB job wide open

Mon, 14 May 2012 05:58:11 -0700

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said the race for the team's middle linebacker job is wide open among second-round draft pick LB Bobby Wagner and veteran LBs Matt McCoy and Barrett Ruud. Wagner will be given every chance to win the job as Carroll would love to get his speed on the field. "But he's got to do it," Carroll said. "He's got a long ways to go before he can take that on."

Seahawks | Not concerned with Russell Wilson's height

Sat, 28 Apr 2012 05:29:00 -0700

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll is not concerned with QB Russell Wilson's height (5-foot-11) and has no regrets taking him in the third round of the NFL Draft. "He's always been the smaller guy playing since he was a freshman at NC State, and he was the first guy in the history of the ACC to be an all-league quarterback as a freshman," Carroll said. "He started right from the beginning - setting records and doing things that people can't imagine."

Seahawks | Want Ryan Tannehill

Mon, 16 Apr 2012 06:58:42 -0700

If Texas A&M QB Ryan Tannehill were to slip out of the top 10 picks in the NFL Draft, look for the Seattle Seahawks to take him with the No. 12 pick. The Seahawks want Tannehill, even if they just recently signed QB Matt Flynn. Head coach Pete Carroll fell in love with Tannehill during his workout.

Seahawks | Pete Carroll not expected to make changes

Wed, 30 Nov 2011 05:14:10 -0800

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll has backed off a previous threat of lineup changes, which was prompted by frustration over penalties in the team's Week 12 loss. "Coach (John) Wooden always said that the coach's greatest ally is the bench. That's what was going through my mind. It was much easier to access that bench when you had 110 guys, you know? When you've got 46 guys, it's a little bit harder," Carroll said.

Seahawks | Pete Carroll blames hormones for first-half call

Mon, 31 Oct 2011 07:50:55 -0700

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll blamed his hormones for his choice of going for it on fourth-and-two from the three-yard line with 14 seconds left in the first half of the team's Week 8 game. The Seahawks ran RB Marshawn Lynch up the middle on an inside draw, and he got the first down, but fell a foot short of the end zone. Without a timeout, the Seahawks could not stop the clock and a minor scrum ensued as Seattle tried to lineup, without success, to run another play. "We learned about what happens when a coach gets hormonal and tries to freakin' jam it down their throat for the touchdown there right at the half," Carroll said about the play. "That was a mistake. It would have been a good call if we made it. But we didn't."

Seahawks | Matt Leinart likely to sign

Mon, 20 Jun 2011 06:56:16 -0700

At this point, it would almost be an upset if the Seattle Seahawks did not sign Houston Texans impending free-agent QB Matt Leinart to come in as a backup. The Seahawks might not be crazy about what they have seen of Leinart on tape, but head coach Pete Carroll has won a lot of games with him, and he thinks he can win some more.
