Wed, 30 Nov 2011 05:14:10 -0800 Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll has backed off a previous threat of lineup changes, which was prompted by frustration over penalties in the team's Week 12 loss. "Coach (John) Wooden always said that the coach's greatest ally is the bench. That's what was going through my mind. It was much easier to access that bench when you had 110 guys, you know? When you've got 46 guys, it's a little bit harder," Carroll said.
Mon, 31 Oct 2011 07:50:55 -0700 Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll blamed his hormones for his choice of going for it on fourth-and-two from the three-yard line with 14 seconds left in the first half of the team's Week 8 game. The Seahawks ran RB Marshawn Lynch up the middle on an inside draw, and he got the first down, but fell a foot short of the end zone. Without a timeout, the Seahawks could not stop the clock and a minor scrum ensued as Seattle tried to lineup, without success, to run another play. "We learned about what happens when a coach gets hormonal and tries to freakin' jam it down their throat for the touchdown there right at the half," Carroll said about the play. "That was a mistake. It would have been a good call if we made it. But we didn't."
Sat, 01 Oct 2011 07:40:18 -0700 Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said he hasn't been happy with his team's level of practice during the first few weeks of the season; however, he saw a big improvement this week, calling it, "Probably the most solid week we've had ... It'll be interesting to see if it carries into the game."
Tue, 26 Jul 2011 07:18:57 -0700 The Seattle Seahawks are expected to give free-agent QB Matt Leinart (Texans) a look, and it might even be considered likely that he'll end up in Seattle. Not only did head coach Pete Carroll coach Leinart in college, but quarterbacks Carl Smith was Leinart's position coach in 2004.
Mon, 20 Jun 2011 06:56:16 -0700 At this point, it would almost be an upset if the Seattle Seahawks did not sign Houston Texans impending free-agent QB Matt Leinart to come in as a backup. The Seahawks might not be crazy about what they have seen of Leinart on tape, but head coach Pete Carroll has won a lot of games with him, and he thinks he can win some more.
Thu, 03 Mar 2011 08:25:43 -0800 The Seattle Seahawks could possibly trade for Cincinnati Bengals QB Carson Palmer should QB Matt Hasselbeck leave via free agency, according to Nate Davis, of USAToday.com. Palmer played for head coach Pete Carroll at the University of Southern California.
Mon, 03 Jan 2011 06:14:03 -0800 Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said following Week 17 game that he has not decided who will start at quarterback in the team's playoff game, according to Danny O'Neil,of The Seattle Times. "We just figure it out," Carroll said. "I don't even know. You're asking about next week? It's not next week yet."
Fri, 19 Nov 2010 20:00:04 -0800 Seattle Seahawks FB Michael Robinson (hamstring), WR Brandon Stokley (calf) and WR Golden Tate (ankle) are all listed as doubtful for Week 11 against the New Orleans Saints. Tate and Stokey were both limited in practice Friday, Nov. 19, while Robinson missed practice. Robinson and Tate are not expected to play, while head coach Pete Carroll said Stokley would be re-evaluated Saturday, Nov. 20.
Wed, 13 Oct 2010 16:39:24 -0700 Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said the Seahawks didn't seek out a trading partner for WR Deion Branch but rather the New England Patriots' interest in him combined with the arrival of WR Brandon Stokley helped convince them to trade Branch. "Without Brandon Stokley coming in here, we never would have thought about it," Carroll said. "Stoke came in here and showed his ability right off the bat. Really, the background he had with Jeremy Bates, and then his ability to come out here and prove it to us that he was ready to take over that role, really made it an opportunity for us." Carroll also said New England approached acquiring Branch aggressively.
Mon, 06 Sep 2010 20:15:32 -0700 Seattle Seahawks RB Justin Forsett was named the Week 1 starter by head coach Pete Carroll, reports Greg Johns, of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. However, Carroll said this decision only applied to the coming game, and he didn't guarantee that Forsett would see more carries than fellow backs Leon Washington and Julius Jones. "This is a competition that is still open. This is not set in stone," Carroll said. "Somebody has to go out first and I want Justin to go out first." Fantasy Tip: Seattle faces the San Francisco 49ers in the opener; it isn't an enticing matchup for opposing backs. Those that have upcoming fantasy football drafts shouldn't bump Forsett up their boards too much; as Carroll said, this remains a competition. Forsett has the biggest upside of the group, though, and can post No. 2 running back numbers in point-per-reception formats. Drafting him as a middle-rounds, No. 3 option under that scoring system presents a better value. He isn't as reliable in non-PPR setups. Washington remains a late-round flier that's also more valuable in leagues that count catches. Consider Jones an uninspiring depth option until he shows more life.
