Cleveland Browns P Kyle Richardson was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 9. Richardson had five punts for 203 yards and averaged 40.6 yards per punt during the 20-14 win against the Tennessee Titans Sunday, Nov. 6. Richardson also had three punts inside the 20-yard line.

Crennel said he'll flip a coin to decide whether Frost or Richardson will punt first during the team's preseason game Saturday, Aug. 13. He said the loser of the coin flip will start the game as the holder for field goals and PAT's.

Cincinnati Bengals P Kyle Richardson had his second straight poor game Sunday, Nov. 2, at the Arizona Cardinals. Arizona's first two scores were set up by short Richardson kicks 35 and 37 yards, respectively. Arizona's average drive start was its own 36-yard line, compared to Cincinnati's average drive start at its own 22. Richardson was signed Oct. 7 to replace P Nick Harris. Richardson was very good in his first Bengals game, Oct. 19 against the Baltimore Ravens, but has struggled since.

Richardson had a 65-yard punt, second longest of his career. Richardson said he was seeing the ball really well and had good rhythm with his kicking motion.

The Charlotte Observer reports agent Paul Sheehy has asked the Carolina Panthers to trade or release his client, P Ken Walter. Sheehy said Carolina's attempt to sign free agent P Kyle Richardson has made it clear Walter isn't in the team's future plans. If the Panthers release Walter, they would clear slightly more than $400,000 in salary cap space. At this point the team has had no comment. WR Isaac Byrd, who agreed to terms on Thursday, could be a candidate as a return man on special teams next season. The Panthers don't have a punt returner and kickoff returner Michael Bates is testing the free agent market.

As an update to an ongoing storyline, the Baltimore Sun reports after a week of negotiations the Baltimore Ravens appear to be moving closer to a contract with LB Jamie Sharper. Agent Tony Agnone and the Ravens exchanged contract proposals earlier today. Agnone said he entertained another offer for Sharper this week from the Philadelphia Eagles, but rejected it because it was for only one year. Despite it being only a one-year deal, Agnone said the Eagles "didn't try to lowball us." The Ravens formally matched Carolina's offer sheet for P Kyle Richardson. VP Ozzie Newsome said the team is working on a long-term deal for Richardson.

The Baltimore Sun reports agent Michael Todd, who represents free agent RB Priest Holmes (Ravens), said Holmes was focusing on three offers in hand but had not ruled out a return to Baltimore. It's known Holmes has visited with Philadelphia, Cleveland and Kansas City. Reportedly Kansas City had not yet made a contract offer so based on the agent's comments they may have made an offer to him, there is a mystery team involved or he does not have three offers. Todd did say a return to Baltimore as a backup to RB Jamal Lewis is unlikely for Holmes, but still a possibility. P Kyle Richardson was still waiting for confirmation yesterday that the Ravens will match the offer sheet he signed in Carolina. Earlier the team said they would, but that they may wait until Friday's deadline to do so.

The Baltimore Sun reports Baltimore Ravens VP of player personnel Ozzie Newsome said last night the team will indeed match an offer sheet signed with the Carolina Panthers by P Kyle Richardson. As of last night, Richardson's agent, Steve Weinberg, said he had not been informed by the club that it intended to match the offer. Newsome also said the team had resumed negotiations with their own free agent LB Jamie Sharper. Weinberg said two of his other contracts, DT Lional Dalton and WR Germany Thompson were close to re-signing with the Ravens. Dalton has agreed to accept the team's tender of $1.115 million for one year, and Thompson will sign a one-year, exclusive-rights deal for $298,000.

The Baltimore Sun reports the Ravens met together for nearly four hours yesterday and they now have a deadline for getting a new deal done for free agent LB Jamie Sharper. "We should have a resolution of this one way or another this week," owner Art Modell said. The team has not determined whether they'll extend another offer to Sharper but appear set to finalize their stance on the starting outside linebacker soon. After their meeting yesterday, Modell said it's possible to sign Sharper as well as match the Carolina Panthers offer on P Kyle Richardson despite being a reported $1.2 million under the salary cap. Sharper's agent, Tony Agnone, said he hasn't heard from the Ravens this weekend.

They appear to be focusing on re-signing LB Jamie Sharper and C Jeff Mitchell, along with OT Leon Searcy of Jacksonville. The Ravens have kept their priorities under wraps.
