Sun, 28 Apr 2013 22:58:13 -0700 Milwaukee Brewers SP Yovani Gallardo will start Monday, April 29, against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He is 6-0 with a 2.18 earned run average in his last seven starts against Pittsburgh.
Tue, 16 Apr 2013 07:50:46 -0700 Milwaukee Brewers SP Yovani Gallardo was arrested for DUI early Tuesday, April 16, and allegedly had a 0.22 blood alcohol content. Fantasy Tip: This might affect his status for his next start. Stay tuned.
Tue, 26 Mar 2013 10:03:21 -0700 Milwaukee Brewers SP Kyle Lohse will make $4 million this year with $7 million deferred to 2016-2018, plus $11 million in each of the 2014 and 2015 seasons. He can make an extra $1.05 million in performance bonuses; $350,000 each for the three seasons that he tops 190 innings. The team is already set in their rotation with SPs Yovani Gallardo, Marco Estrada, Wily Peralta, Chris Narveson and Mike Fiers. They may choose to carry Lohse as part of their 13-man staff to begin the year, and Lohse said he should be game-ready shortly. Fiers and Peralta have minor league options left, so they are the most likely to be bumped from the rotation to make room for Lohse when he's ready. Both young pitchers have struggled this spring, too. Fantasy Tip: Now that Lohse has a team to pitch for, he's definitely worthy of a draft pick in all formats. He has excellent control, but isn't as dominant as 2012 suggests. He also has struggled in his career at Miller Park, confines not as friendly to hurlers as his old digs in St. Louis.
Wed, 06 Mar 2013 06:33:07 -0800 Milwaukee Brewers SP Yovani Gallardo (groin) has been cleared to start Friday, March 8, for Team Mexico in the World Baseball Classic. He faced five Arizona Diamondbacks hitters Tuesday, March 5, and struck out the side with two walks.
Sun, 03 Mar 2013 21:57:34 -0800 Updating a previous report, Milwaukee Brewers SP Yovani Gallardo (groin) threw a successful bullpen session Sunday, March 3. He remains on track to pitch for Team Mexico in the World Baseball Classic, but the Brewers want to see him pitch one inning for them Tuesday, March 5, in an exhibition game against Tema Canada. General manager Doug Melvin and assistant general manager Gord Ash informed manager Ron Roenicke that WBC rules dictate a player cannot return to his major league team after joining his Classic team, and Mexico had a players' meeting scheduled for Sunday night. "The rules are that if he shows up to the meeting that they have, he cannot come back with us," Roenicke said. "He cannot come back to get treated, he can't come back to pitching an inning Tuesday for us. So I need to have a discussion with 'Yo' to see what he wants to do."
Sat, 02 Mar 2013 10:02:40 -0800 Milwaukee Brewers SP Yovani Gallardo (groin) has been scratched from his scheduled start Sunday, March 3, because of groin tightness that he suffered during his last outing. Manager Ron Roenicke said he would throw a bullpen session Sunday to test his groin. If all goes well, Gallardo would throw an inning in the Brewers' exhibition game against Team Canada Tuesday, March 5, before joining Team Mexico for the World Baseball Classic. "We're going to be cautious with him," Roenicke said. "That's why we're doing what we're doing ... We need to test to be sure he's 100% before he goes to the Classic. If he's not ready, he's not going to pitch in it."
Sun, 27 Jan 2013 21:35:13 -0800 Milwaukee Brewers SP Yovani Gallardo planned to report to Arizona before the end of this week to begin ramping up workouts before the World Baseball Classic. Gallardo will be pitching for Team Mexico. He missed the event in 2009.
Sun, 27 Jan 2013 11:34:53 -0800 Milwaukee Brewers manager Ron Roenicke hinted that SP Wily Peralta is the favorite to win the No. 3 spot in the starting rotation, behind SPs Yovani Gallardo and Marco Estrada. This would leave SPs Chris Narveson, Mike Fiers and Mark Rogers to battle for the final two spots in the rotation.
Tue, 15 Jan 2013 08:36:58 -0800 Milwaukee Brewers SP Yovani Gallardo will play for Mexico in the 2013 World Baseball Classic.
Sun, 30 Dec 2012 22:55:33 -0800 Milwaukee Brewers SP Yovani Gallardo is likely in likely for his fourth consecutive Opening Day start and is the only rock-solid bet to make the team's starting pitching rotation.
