Updating previous reports, Detroit Tigers SP Justin Verlander (triceps) will not make his spring start against the New York Yankees Thursday, April 2. Verlander said he remains sore Monday, March 30, after suffering from cramping in his right triceps muscle during his outing last Friday. SP Anibal Sanchez will likely be the team's No. 2 starter to open the season if Verlander is not ready. Verlander said he is day-to-day right now.
Fantasy Tip: The Tigers will likely err on the side of cautious with Verlander ($6,500, 13.0% of cap), who dealt with injuries for much of last season, too. Consider him a shaky option at FantasyScore to start the season if he's skipped, but Verlander could be a nice matchup play in 2015.

Detroit Tigers SP Anibal Sanchez threw five shutout innings with six strikeouts and two hits allowed Thursday, March 19.
Fantasy Tip: Sanchez had back-to-back rough outings before Thursday, so a solid showing is an encouraging sign heading into the season. Sanchez is a low-end No. 2 fantasy starter, but he looks a lot better as your No. 3, especially considering he has never topped 200 innings pitched in his career. Additionally, it is safe to consider the 10.0 K/9 he returned in 2013 to be an anomaly, as something closer to his 7.3 career mark is what fantasy owners should expect in 2015.
