The Detroit Tigers have placed SP Anibal Sanchez (side) on the 15-day disabled list because of a right pectoralis major strain. The move is retroactive to Saturday, Aug. 9, and he could miss three to four weeks. Sanchez suffered the injury during his start against the Toronto Blue Jays Friday, Aug. 8, and was forced to leave the game in the fifth inning due to a strained muscle in his right side. The Tigers will recall SP Robbie Ray to start against the Pittsburgh Pirates Wednesday, Aug. 13, in place of Sanchez.
Fantasy Tip: Ray does not have much fantasy value except as a desperation streaming option.

Updating a previous report, Detroit Tigers SP Anibal Sanchez (pectoral) left the game early Friday, Aug. 8, because of a right pectoral strain. He will be reevaluated Saturday, Aug. 9.
Fantasy Tip: There appears to be a good chance that Sanchez will need to go on the 15-day disabled list because of the injury. The team could consider recalling Drew VerHagen or Robbie Ray from the minor leagues if Sanchez is sidelined. Both are probably only options in AL-only leagues.

Detroit Tigers SP Anibal Sanchez (finger) will throw another bullpen session Thursday, May 8. He is working back from a right middle finger laceration, and is not eligible to come off the 15-day disabled list until Monday, May 12.
Fantasy Tip: It is still unclear if Sanchez will be brought back when eligible or if he'll need a minor-league rehab start. If he does come back Monday, he is an attractive play in most fantasy leagues since he'll be a two-start pitcher in the upcoming week.
