Cincinnati Reds RP Nick Masset (groin) threw from 60 feet again Friday, May 25, and was improved over his session Thursday, May 24. He'll need to build arm strength first, though.

Cincinnati Reds RP Nick Masset (shoulder) had a successful throwing session Thursday, May 24, throwing 30 pitches from 60 feet. Masset will throw every day from 60 feet as he progresses.

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Reds RP Aroldis Chapman appears likely to remain in the bullpen for the time being. "Someday, yeah," manager Dusty Baker said. "But right now, we need him in the 'pen. We lost (Ryan) Madson. We lost (Bill) Bray. If he wasn't in the position he's in, we wouldn't be in the position we're in. This guy hasn't given up a run. He's gotten people out of trouble. He's won games." Chapman hasn't given up a run in 18 1/3 innings this year. He's likely to remain in the bullpen for as long as RPs Bill Bray (back, groin) and Nick Masset (shoulder) are out, and neither are close to returning.

Updating a previous item, Cincinnati Reds RP Nick Masset (shoulder) said his shoulder isn't fully healed, and he'll likely need a couple more weeks of rest and rehab before he can resume throwing. "It's a small rent on my capsule," Masset said. "A rent is a paper cut on my capsule. It's small strain of the capsule. Say it was 80 percent (injured). It's probably 40 percent now. We're trying to get it to zero, where it's fully strong."

Updating previous reports, Cincinnati Reds RP Nick Masset's (shoulder) MRI revealed the strain in his right shoulder hasn't fully healed. He must wait to resume throwing.

Cincinnati Reds RP Nick Masset (shoulder) underwent an MRI exam Wednesday, April 25, that compared to his initial MRI. He hopes to resume throwing by the end of the week.

Cincinnati Reds RP Nick Masset (shoulder) felt some tenderness in his shoulder after throwing and is being put back on a strengthening program. He'll be held out of action for a few days.
