Rangers | Shin-Soo Choo closes regular season strong

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 15:40:28 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo reached base safely in 53 of the final 55 games this season. Choo singled in his team's 9-2 win over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Sunday, Oct. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Choo ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) started out poorly in Texas but he closed the regular season hitting .276 with over 20 homers and 80 RBIs. He could be a sleeper heading into 2016 for people who still dismiss him as a lightweight thanks to that big free-agent deal.

Rangers | Shin-Soo Choo matches homer high

Sat, 03 Oct 2015 01:30:20 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo matched a career high with his 22nd home run of the season Friday, Oct. 2, as the Rangers lost 2-1 to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Fantasy Tip: Choo ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) has come alive somewhat after a slow start to his Rangers career. He may not be worth the huge contract Texas gave him, but Choo may be a decent backup outfielder for your team in 2016.

Rangers | Shin-Soo Choo goes deep

Sat, 26 Sep 2015 05:40:56 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo went 3-for-5 with one home run and three RBI against the Houston Astros Friday, Sept. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Choo ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) has played very well this month with a .422 batting average, three home runs and 16 RBI. He should continue to in the starting lineup every day since the team is competing for a playoff spot and could be a solid option on FantasyScore as long as he is on a hot streak.

Rangers | Shin-Soo Choo losing playing time

Mon, 10 Aug 2015 16:22:46 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo has lost playing time recently, and it has left him questioning why he's no longer facing left-handed pitchers and why manager Jeff Bannister hasn't played him as much recently. "I should persevere some for team's victory. I don't want to misunderstand the manager's decision. I am just unfamiliar with the situation that searching for my name in starting lineup. And I rested so much already," Choo wrote in a recent diary entry. Choo has only 17 at-bats against lefties in the second half with six hits, but he's batting only .180 on the season against lefties with a .262 on-base percentage and .572 OPS.

Fantasy Tip: Surely Choo ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) shouldn't be owned in shallow mixed leagues, especially now that he's struggling to crack the daily lineup. At FantasyScore, you should definitely only look to use him as a value play on days when he's facing mediocre right-handed hurlers.

Rangers | Shin-Soo Choo batting second

Sun, 09 Aug 2015 13:06:21 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo is back in the lineup following a three-day absence and is hitting second Sunday, Aug. 9, against the Seattle Mariners.

Fantasy Tip: Choo ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) will have a bit higher fantasy value batting in the second slot against Mariners pitcher Felix Hernandez. He bounces back and forth between No. 2 and either the seventh or eighth spot, so take advantage of this opportunity.

Rangers | Josh Hamilton playing right field

Sat, 08 Aug 2015 11:55:48 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Josh Hamilton will start in right field and bat sixth against Seattle Mariners SP Mike Montgomery Saturday, Aug. 8. OF Shin-Soo Choo will receive the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is batting just .214 with two home runs and eight RBIs in 42 at-bats against southpaws this season, making this a less than ideal matchup for him in FantasyScore.

Rangers | Shin-Soo Choo out against southpaw

Wed, 05 Aug 2015 15:25:08 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo is not in the lineup against Houston Astros left-handed SP Scott Kazmir Wednesday, Aug. 5. OF Ryan Strausborger is starting in right field and hitting second.

Fantasy Tip: Strausborger will be making his major league debut after hitting .278 (96-for-345) with 10 home runs and 34 RBI for Class AAA Round Rock this year. He is hitting in a great lineup spot but is facing one of the hottest pitchers in the majors tonight. Take a wait-and-see approach with Strausborger on FantasyScore and avoid him tonight.

Rangers | Shin-Soo Choo batting No. 2

Sun, 02 Aug 2015 11:55:30 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo is batting second in the lineup Sunday, Aug. 2, against the San Francisco Giants.

Fantasy Tip: Choo ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) has a .333 average in the past week but he hits .600 against Giants starter Mike Leake, with three hits in five at-bats. Those are juicy numbers, so it may account for moving Choo up and giving him scoring opportunities.

Rangers | Mitch Moreland, Shin-Soo Choo out

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 16:20:17 -0700

Texas Rangers 1B Mitch Moreland and OF Shin-Soo Choo are not in the starting lineup against San Francisco Giants left-handed SP Madison Bumgarner Friday, July 31. 2B Adam Rosales is starting at first base and hitting seventh, while OF Ryan Rua gets the start in left field and is hitting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Rua ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) and Rosales ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) are both weak FantasyScore options to begin with, and facing MadBum means you should definitely look to avoid them everywhere in daily games.
