Updating previous reports, Minnesota Vikings LT Bryant McKinnie (ankle) may miss the Vikings game Sunday, Nov. 9, against the San Diego Chargers with an ankle injury suffered in Week 9. After injuring his ankle, Sunday, Nov. 2, against the Green Bay Packers McKinnie returned to the game but was ineffective. If McKinnie is unable to play in Week 10, OT Everett Lindsay will likely replace him.

The Associated Press reports Minnesota Vikings G David Dixon (hip flexor) was held out of practice on Friday. Coach Mike Tice said Dixon's injury was fine for most of the week, but started bothering him Friday morning. Tice said if the team had a game Friday, Dixon would not have played. If Dixon can't play, Everett Lindsay and Cory Withrow would rotate in.

The Star Tribune reports Minnesota Vikings rookie OT Bryant McKinnie went through his first full day of practice Wednesday. Offensive line coach Steve Loney was impressed by McKinnie's conditioning. Coach Mike Tice liked McKinnie's foot work. McKinnie split snaps with Everett Lindsay with the first-team offense.

Sean Jensen reports for the Pioneer Press even though OT Lewis Kelly is expected to start Sunday, Minnesota Vikings coach Mike Tice said he'll only play about half the game. Tice said OL Everett Lindsay will alternate with Kelly and play about half the game at left tackle. It appears they will alternate series, according to Tice.

Kevin Seifert reports for the Star Tribune Minnesota Vikings OT Lewis Kelly has now decided he is not ready to return to the team, after the death of his wife. The NFL has granted the Vikings a special two-week roster exemption for Kelly. OL Everett Lindsay will start at left tackle in Sunday's season opener, and OL Corbin Lacina will start at left guard.

Bill Williamson reports for the Pioneer Press Minnesota Vikings OL Everett Lindsay likely will start at left guard this Sunday. Normal starter Corbin Lacina (ankles) is still troubled by cellulitis in his ankles. If OT Lewis Kelly comes back slowly from his wife's death, Lindsay would probably have to start at left tackle, with Lacina starting at left guard.

The Star Tribune reports Minnesota Vikings OL Chris Liwienski said he hopes his contract extension will be completed within a couple of days. It is possible the deal could be a seven-year extension. OL Everett Lindsay has agreed to a new deal that is more cap-friendly for the Vikings. No terms were released. The team has asked P Mitch Berger to rework his contract and they plan to ask OL Brad Badger to do the same thing.

Bill Williamson reports for the Pioneer Press the Minnesota Vikings plan to put OL David Dixon and Corbin Lacina back in the starting lineup this week. Dixon was benched in favor of Everett Lindsay, and Calvin Collins played in front of Lacina against the Packers last week. Lindsay is expected to be the backup at every position this week, and Collins likely will spell Lacina. FS Orlando Thomas and RCB Robert Tate are scheduled to start again. Thomas (death in family) missed practice today, but he should be back tomorrow. Eric Kelly could see a lot of action at left corner if Dale Carter (hamstring) can't play. Jim Nelson is expected to start at weakside linebacker and Andre O'Neal is set to start at strongside linebacker. QB Spergon Wynn is also slated to start.

Bill Williamson reports for the Pioneer Press it appears the Minnesota Vikings are benching starting RG David Dixon. Everett Lindsay is expected to start in his place. Sources said coach Dennis Green made the decision. Dixon has been a starter for the past three seasons. It also appears Calvin Collins will start at left guard in place of Corbin Lacina. LB Jim Nelson likely will start at weak-side linebacker in place of LB Ed McDaniel (shoulder). If LB Lemanski Hall (shoulder) can't play, Andre O'Neal probably will take his place at strong-side linebacker.

Vikings.com reports Minnesota Vikings head coach Dennis Green said DL Willie Howard (knee) is going to need total reconstruction of his knee. He may be available for the start of the 2002 season. DL Chris Hovan (ankle) is questionable this week. FB Jim Kleinsasser (high ankle sprain) may be able to return this weekend, but the team isn't sure yet. P Mitch Berger (neck) hurt his neck and is wearing a brace. He's questionable right now and could miss a week. OL Brad Badger (toe) injured his toe again and was replaced by Everett Lindsay on Sunday.

Bill Williamson reports for the Pioneer Press the Minnesota Vikings were happy to see rookie RB Michael Bennett finally break free today. "Michael is really maturing as a running back," Vikings OL Everett Lindsay said after Bennett gained 113 yards on 16 carries Sunday. It was Bennett's first 100-yard rushing game. Bennett also scored his first two rushing touchdowns. "He has really been great since he came back from the injury," Lindsay said. Seeing Bennett register his first 100-yard game was satisfying for his line. Bennett was pleased with his performance as well.

The Pioneer Press reports Minnesota Vikings LT Brad Badger left yesterday's game with a turf toe injury in the first quarter. Badger will be reevaluated today, but he could miss some time. Everett Lindsay moved from left guard to left tackle to play for Badger. Calvin Collins took his place at left guard. DT Winfield Garnett (right foot injury) and DT Chris Hovan (hyperextended knee) were also injured. WR Randy Moss also felt soreness on his right ankle, but he is expected to be fine.

ESPN's John Clayton reports Minnesota Vikings OG Corbin Lacina (calf) hasn't been able to practice all week and won't play this weekend. He'll be replaced by Everett Lindsay. DT Willie Howard (knee) may not be able to play either. The team plans to start Fred Robbins at nose tackle in place of Winfield Garnett. Newly signed CB Dale Carter could play this weekend as a nickel back and on special teams.

Mike Wells reports for the Pioneer Press the MRI on Minnesota Vikings OL Corbin Lacina revealed he has a high left ankle sprain. It is doubtful whether Lacina will play Sunday against Detroit. Everett Lindsay will play left guard in Lacina's absence. The Vikings have not put a timetable on Lacina's return, but the injury could linger for a couple of weeks.

Bill Williamson reports for the Pioneer Press Minnesota Vikings offensive line coach said after yesterday's loss he needed to "shake things up." Today, he backed off some meeting his unit and told them no one would be replaced. They all simply will work to get better. Tice added, "There will not be wholesale changes. We may try to use some more guys, but there will not be major changes. I believe in my guys, but we have work to do; that game showed us that." Backups Everett Lindsay and Lewis Kelly might play more. Kelly can play guard and tackle, but he may concentrate on left tackle. Lindsay can play any spot on the line.

The Star-Tribune reports Minnesota Vikings LT Brad Badger (knee), CB Robert Tate (shoulder) and WR/KR Nate Jacquet practiced Thursday and are expected to play Sunday. Badger wore a modified brace. Coach Dennis Green said if Badger's prognosis worsened, Everett Lindsay would start. LB Isaac Keys will undergo surgery on his shoulder today. He is on the IR list.

Patrick McManamon reports for the Akron Beacon Journal Cleveland Browns WR Kevin Johnson practiced again today, but he's not sure he'll play this week. Coach Butch Davis said he won't decide about Johnson's status until Friday. G Everett Lindsay sprained his left ankle in the morning practice and he was seen wearing a boot in the afternoon. H-back Mike Sellers left the morning practice after another player landed on his knee and he then skipped the afternoon practice. Coach Davis said, Sellers had a "small minor boo-boo on his knee, and he'll be fine." As an update to a previous story, backup QB Kevin Thompson will have arthroscopic surgery on his knee and miss one-to-three weeks.

Patrick McManamon reports for the Akron Beacon Journal the Cleveland Browns suffered some injuries along the offensive line in today's scrimmage. G Jim Pyne sprained his ankle when a teammate fell across it. Coach Butch Davis said it would not be serious, but Pyne said he probably would miss practice time. OL Steve Zahursky (wobbly knee), Everett Lindsay (kicked) and backup T Jeremy McKinney (knee) went to the sidelines as well. "Every time I turned around it seemed like a lineman was down on the ground today," said QB Tim Couch, who threw the ball well.

The News Herald reports newly signed OL Tre' Johnson will compete with Everett Lindsay for the starting right guard position with the Cleveland Browns. The team feels he also adds solid insurance if left guard Jim Pyne (knee) suffers any setbacks. Director of football operations Dwight Clark stated Johnson will be able to help the team's running game this year.

The Beacon Journal reports one area the Cleveland Browns did not address in the NFL Draft was the offensive line. The current Browns line has Ross Verba and Roman Oben at tackle, Dave Wohlabaugh at center and a crowd of contenders to fight it out at guard, including Jim Pyne, Steve Zahursky, Everett Lindsay, Noel LaMontagne, Brad Bedell and rookie draft pick Paul Zukauskas. Director of football operations Dwight Clark did not rule out taking another look at available free agent offensive linemen. The team has spoken with free agent Tre' Johnson, but agent Greg Ray said he hadn't talked to the Browns since April 12. Since the draft, he said he's spoken to the Falcons, Steelers, Saints and Raiders.

As previously reported, the Cleveland Browns continue to negotiate with free agent TE Rickey Dudley (Oakland). The Beacon Journal reports team president Carmen Policy said the team has made progress toward an agreement. Coach Butch Davis said incumbent Everett Lindsay will be given the first chance to start at right guard. The team promoted three members of their front office, Bill Hampton becomes Vice President of Operations, Lal Heneghan becomes Vice President, Assistant Director of Football Operations and General Counsel and Bruce Popko Vice President of Marketing and Development.

The Canton Repository reports Cleveland Browns C Dave Wohlabaugh (ankle) is listed as questionable and might miss his fourth straight start. Also listed as questionable is RG Everett Lindsay (back spasms). Lindsay was in severe pain with back spasms Sunday, but played against the Eagles anyway.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports RG Everett Lindsay is suffering from back spasms. Lindsay said he came down with the spasms on Sunday morning and played in pain the entire day. He could hardly get out of bed Monday morning.

Browns | Injury Update

ClevelandBrowns.com reports Cleveland Browns S Marquis Smith (bruised leg), WR Dennis Northcutt (high ankle sprain) and RB Travis Prentice (bruised calf) were all banged up on Sunday during the Browns loss to the Eagles. X-rays taken on Smith's leg were negative. OL Everett Lindsay (back spasms) was able to play through the whole game.
