The Cleveland Indians feel SP Ubaldo Jimenez (groin) will return to form in 2012 because he suffered through a groin injury last year that affected his lower body strength. "Ubaldo felt that his season was sidetracked by a groin injury that affected his lower-body strength and his ability to consistently execute his delivery," general manager Chris Antonetti said. "To be sure he comes into camp with the best foundation for success, Ubaldo has worked diligently this winter with one of our strength and conditioning coaches on his core and lower half strength and flexibility."

Cleveland Indians SP Ubaldo Jimenez is working with strength coach Nelson Perez in the Dominican Republic this winter. Perez moved his family to the Dominican from Puerto Rico in order to train with Jimenez and other players. Reports are that Jimenez is in excellent shape while working on his core and lower-half strength.

Former MLB SP Juan Marichal said he plans to talk with Cleveland Indians SP Ubaldo Jimenez to see what went wrong with his 2011 season. "The first thing I will ask him is 'were you hurt?' If that's the case, then there's nothing he could have done. It's hard to pitch if you are hurt," Marichal said. "I want to see if I can help him."

The Cleveland Indians' starting rotation heading into the 2012 season appears to be set after the team traded for SP Derek Lowe Monday, Oct. 31. Lowe will join SPs Ubaldo Jimenez, Justin Masterson, Josh Tomlin and Fausto Carmona.
