Orioles | Vance Worley being skipped in rotation

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 15:40:54 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Vance Worley is having his next assignment skipped, as he won't start in the team's upcoming series with the Toronto Blue Jays. He'll be working out of the bullpen instead. Manager Buck Showalter said he hopes SP Ubaldo Jimenez "complicates things."

Fantasy Tip: Although Worley has produced solid work overall in his two starts since being inserted into the rotation, Showalter apparently still doesn't fully trust the right-hander, hence why Jimenez is getting yet another shot to stick on the pitching staff when he starts Thursday, July 28. The former Colorado Rockies hurler has been a disaster this year, though, holding an ugly 7.38 ERA and 1.97 WHIP. Worley has definitely earned some extra starts, at the very least.

Orioles | Ubaldo Jimenez to start Thursday

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 19:46:52 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Ubaldo Jimenez is scheduled to start Thursday, July 28, against the Minnesota Twins.

Fantasy Tip: Jimenez is 5-9 with a 7.37 ERA and 1.97 WHIP, so fantasy owners shouldn't trust him yet. However, perhaps his finest start of the season came April 7 against the Twins, allowing just two runs - one earned - and eight hits with no walks and nine strikeouts over seven innings in a win.

Orioles | Ubaldo Jimenez available

Sat, 23 Jul 2016 05:14:26 -0700

The Baltimore Orioles are looking to trade SP Ubaldo Jimenez before the trade deadline.

Fantasy Tip: Jimenez has struggled this season and currently has a 7.38 ERA in 18 games. He likely would continue to be a starting pitcher if he is traded but is not a great fantasy option at this point.

Orioles | Ubaldo Jimenez chased early

Fri, 08 Jul 2016 19:58:00 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Ubaldo Jimenez allowed five runs on five hits while walking two over 1 1/3 innings in a loss to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Friday, July 8.

Fantasy Tip: He has some strikeout potential, but with his ERA ballooning to 7.38, he is tough to justify owning in any format.

Orioles | Ubaldo Jimenez taking on Angels

Fri, 08 Jul 2016 10:54:44 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Ubaldo Jimenez will get the start against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Friday, July 8. He is 2-1 with a 5.28 ERA in his last three starts.

Fantasy Tip: Jimenez allowed six earned runs in his last outing against the Mariners Sunday, and he's sporting a 6.95 ERA, 1.91 WHIP and 8.1 K/9 on the season. Fantasy owners shouldn't be interested in using him as a matchup play Friday, as the Angels have been swinging like a team possessed on their current road trip.

Orioles | Ubaldo Jimenez tops Padres again

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 22:39:44 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Ubaldo Jimenez allowed one run on three hits in five innings against the San Diego Padres on Tuesday, June 28. He struck out five and walked four.

Fantasy Tip: Jimenez vs. the Padres: 2-0, 2.45 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, 12 K's in 11 IP. Jimenez vs. the rest of baseball: 3-7, 7.34 ERA, 2.00 WHIP, 57 K's in 65 IP. Unless the Orioles can successfully petition MLB to allow Jimenez to exclusively face the Padres going forward, the veteran is of no interest to anyone besides desperate AL-only owners.

Orioles | Ubaldo Jimenez defeats San Diego

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 19:32:48 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Ubaldo Jimenez (4-7) allowed two runs on four hits over six innings in a victory over the San Diego Padres Wednesday, June 22, with four walks and seven strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Jimenez had allowed at least five runs in seven of his last eight outings entering play Wednesday but recorded his first quality start since May 7. He is too inconsistent to be viewed as a reliable fantasy option in any format.

Orioles | Ubaldo Jimenez moved to 'pen

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 14:28:38 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Ubaldo Jimenez has been moved to the bullpen.

Fantasy Tip: Jimenez has been bad this year with a 6.89 ERA, 1.97 WHIP and 7.6 K/9 in 13 starts (62 2/3 innings) for the O's. He shouldn't have been on any rosters in mixed leagues at this point, and his move to the bullpen kills whatever remaining fantasy value he had.

Orioles | Rotation decision coming for O's

Mon, 13 Jun 2016 20:01:07 -0700

The Baltimore Orioles are set to welcome SP Yovani Gallardo (shoulder) back from the 15-day disabled list Saturday, June 18. The question is who comes out of the rotation. SPs Tyler Wilson and Mike Wright have minor-league options remaining. Meanwhile, SP Ubaldo Jimenez was horrible in his outing Sunday, June 12, recording just one out for the shortest outing of his career.

Fantasy Tip: Jimenez isn't worth starting in most fantasy leagues right now, even if he is able to hang onto his job once Gallardo returns. You'll have a few days to see what the team elects to do with Wilson or Wright, so you won't be stuck with a zero heading into the next scoring period starting next Monday. If either of those pitchers are assigned to the minors, you can cut bait at that point.

Orioles | Ubaldo Jimenez snaps losing skid

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 21:07:39 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Ubaldo Jimenez allowed one earned run, nine hits and three walks with four strikeouts over five innings in a win Tuesday, June 7, against the Kansas City Royals to snap a three-game skid.

Fantasy Tip: Jimenez still hasn't recorded a quality start in six starts dating back to May 7, but this was certainly a stride in the right direction. Right now U can only be trusted in AL-only fantasy leagues, but a few more wins and efficiency and he could easily re-emerge as a solid mixed league option.
