"They understand here that when that happens, there's something else that's going to happen: You're going to sit with me and watch." OF Nate McLouth is starting in left field Friday.

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Nate McLouth had an RBI double and a walk Thursday, March 22, to raise his spring average to .391. INF Yamaico Navarro, who is a favorite for a bench spot, went 3-for-4 with a home run Thursday, and he's hitting .303.

The Pittsburgh Pirates are close to signing free-agent OF Nate McLouth (Braves), according to a source. McLouth was drafted by Pittsburgh in 2000 and was an All-Star with the team in 2008. He could take one of the corner outfield spots next year.
