Wed, 22 May 2013 14:14:42 -0700 Baltimore Orioles OF Nolan Reimold (hamstring, back) underwent two MRI exams on his hamstring and lower back Tuesday, May 21, and won't join the team on their upcoming road trip. He is dealing with a slight tear in the upper part of his leg and will meet with a specialist. He's unlikely to be able to come off the disabled list when eligible next Tuesday. Fantasy Tip: Reimold isn't a quick healer, so don't expect him back anytime soon. Chris Dickerson had a big day last night against the Yankees, and he'll continue to split time with Nate McLouth with Reimold on the sidelines. If Dickerson remains hot, he should be a nice asset in deep AL-only leagues while Reimold is out.
Sat, 27 Apr 2013 11:42:35 -0700 Baltimore Orioles C Taylor Teagarden will start behind the plate against the Oakland Athletics Saturday, April 27, with Matt Wieters serving as the designated hitter. INF Ryan Flaherty will play second base, with OF Nate McLouth leading off.
Fri, 26 Apr 2013 11:32:17 -0700 Baltimore Orioles OF Nate McLouth reached based four times via a single, double, walk and a fielder's choice Thursday, April 25, and he's hitting .444 (8-for-18) over his last six games in the leadoff spot. "I'm swinging at good pitches, that's what I'm most happy about," McLouth said. "I'm working the count and swinging at the pitches I want instead of having to swing at what a pitcher wants." McLouth also stole a base and drove in two runs. He has reached base safely in 16 of his last 25 plate appearances. Fantasy Tip: Yes, it's a small sample size, but McLouth looks comfortable in the leadoff spot and is seeing the ball well. He may be worth riding in deep mixed leagues with five outfield spots.
Fri, 29 Mar 2013 12:18:53 -0700 Baltimore Orioles OFs Nick Markakis and Nate McLouth are the team's candidates to hit leadoff to begin the season, with 2B Brian Roberts slated to hit ninth in the order. However, manager Buck Showalter said Roberts could easily move up in the order as the season progresses. Fantasy Tip: Markakis, who was dealing with neck problems in camp, is probably the only one of this trio that deserves consideration in mixed leagues this season.
Tue, 19 Feb 2013 14:51:31 -0800 Baltimore Orioles OF Nolan Reimold (neck) has already regained strength in his left arm this spring after he underwent a procedure similar to what Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning had last offseason. In Reimold's case, there was no damage to the nerve root, giving reason to believe he could regain full strength. He plans to be ready for the spring opener Saturday, Feb. 23, but manager Buck Showalter hasn't said whether Reimold will platoon in left field with OF Nate McLouth yet.
Wed, 23 Jan 2013 14:35:51 -0800 The Baltimore Orioles are not sold that Arizona Diamondbacks OF Jason Kubel's price is worth what they will need to give up to acquire him through a trade. Kubel would see most of his at-bats as the team's designated hitter with OF Nate McLouth re-signed, and they already have 3B Wilson Betemit who fits the DH role.
Sat, 29 Dec 2012 20:26:39 -0800 Baltimore Orioles OFs Nate McLouth and Nolan Reimold are considered the primary candidates to start in left field, and manager Buck Showalter could potentially platoon them.
Sat, 15 Dec 2012 10:05:16 -0800 The Baltimore Orioles had expressed interest in trading for Kansas City Royals OF Jeff Francoeur before they were able to re-sign OF Nate McLouth.
Thu, 13 Dec 2012 23:55:04 -0800 The Baltimore Orioles announced OF Nate McLouth passed his physical, which finalized a one-year deal worth $2 million for the 2013 season. The deal includes $500,000 in performance incentives. "It was just a very enjoyable time for me personally, and it's a good team. That's the bottom line. We have a chance to kind of duplicate what we did last year and then some and move past that. For those reasons, it was my first choice," McLouth said.
Sat, 08 Dec 2012 08:06:10 -0800 Baltimore Orioles 2B Brian Roberts, OF Nate McLouth and OF Nick Markakis are options to hit first in the starting lineup next season.
