Blue Jays | Rajai Davis placed on disabled list

Sat, 11 May 2013 11:35:49 -0700

The Toronto Blue Jays have placed OF Rajai Davis (oblique) on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained left oblique. In a corresponding move, SP Chad Jenkins has been called up from Double-A New Hampshire. Jenkins will start against the Boston Red Sox Sunday, May 12, in place of SP Brandon Morrow (neck), who had his next start pushed back to Wednesday, May 15, against the San Francisco Giants.

Fantasy Tip: It appears as though Jenkins will be sent back to the minors immediately after his start Sunday because the Blue Jays won't need a fifth starter again until May 18. Look for Toronto to add a position player, such as INF Jim Negrych or OF Anthony Gose, to their 25-man roster prior to their series against the Giants.

Fri, 19 Apr 2013 17:41:12 -0700

Once Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista (ankle) is able to return to his normal spot in right field, 1B Adam Lind and OF Rajai Davis will split time as the designated hitter. Lind will face right-handed pitchers, while Davis will face left-handed pitchers. The duo were set to form a platoon earlier in the month, before injuries led to new alignments.

Blue Jays | Rajai Davis gets rare start

Thu, 11 Apr 2013 17:28:09 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Rajai Davis received a rare start versus a right-handed pitcher Thursday, April 11, as he's mostly being used only against lefties this year. Davis had good success against Detroit Tigers SP Doug Fister, and it was an opportunity to put OF Jose Bautista in the designated hitter role to rest him. Davis had a stolen base and a single in Thursday's game, and he entered the game hitting .259 against righties and .289 against left-handers.

Fantasy Tip: Expect this trend to continue for Davis. He's definitely worth having on your roster in deep mixed leagues for his speed contributions. He's not a bad trade target later in the year, either, if you're lacking in thefts.

Blue Jays | Keeping tabs on Adam Lind

Fri, 22 Feb 2013 13:09:39 -0800

Toronto Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said the team will keep a close eye on how 1B Adam Lind fares against left-handed pitching this spring, and they're currently debating whether they think he can be an everyday player. "We're looking at it," Gibbons said. "That's what we want to (evaluate), because we have some right-handed bats that could fill that hole if we're stronger that way." Lind hit .202 against lefties last year and hits .220 against them in his career. Gibbons downplayed the possibility that OF Colby Rasmus could be involved in a platoon at first base. INF Emilio Bonifacio and OF Rajai Davis are intriguing options off the bench against righties.

Fri, 16 Nov 2012 11:57:04 -0800
