Tigers | Rajai Davis draws back into lineup

Thu, 21 May 2015 07:12:05 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF Rajai Davis is batting seventh and playing right field against the Houston Astros Thursday, May 21.

Fantasy Tip: Davis ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) is an upside source of cap relief for FantasyScore players. His speed helps him stretch out extra-base hits and swipe bases. He has performed well when given the opportunity this season, too, as he sports a .275 average with 18 runs, eight extra-base hits and nine stolen bases over 80 at-bats.

Tigers | Yoenis Cespedes out of the lineup

Mon, 18 May 2015 12:01:33 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF Yoenis Cespedes (thumb) is not in the starting lineup against the Milwaukee Brewers Monday, May 18. OF Rajai Davis is batting sixth and playing left field Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Cespedes ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) in all fantasy formats Monday. He played Sunday, May 17, after he hurt his thumb in the game Saturday, May 16. His absence Monday is likely just an opportunity to rest the slugger. Davis ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) could be a sneaky low-priced FantasyScore option Monday. He has 12 runs and 5 stolen bases with an .845 OPS over his last 50 plate appearances.

Tigers | Rajai Davis in starting lineup

Thu, 14 May 2015 09:28:01 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF Rajai Davis is starting in right field and hitting seventh in the batting order against Minnesota Twins SP Mike Pelfrey Thursday, May 14. OF J.D. Martinez is serving as the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Davis ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) has been in a platoon in center field with Anthony Gose this year, with Davis mainly facing left-handed pitchers. He's just 8-for-37 (.216) against right-handers this year, making him a weak play at FantasyScore. However, he should see more playing time this weekend with Victor Martinez (knee) out in a National League park.

Tigers | Rajai Davis under the weather

Wed, 06 May 2015 10:22:56 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF Rajai Davis (illness) is likely to receive the start Wednesday, May 6, against a left-handed pitcher, but he has been under the weather and hasn't played since Saturday, May 2, although that's mainly been due to pitching matchups.

Fantasy Tip: A less than 100% Davis ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) going up against Chicago White Sox lefty Chris Sale is a recipe for a bad play at FantasyScore this evening.

Tigers | J.D. Martinez not starting Saturday

Sat, 02 May 2015 12:41:46 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF J.D. Martinez is not in the starting lineup against the Kansas City Royals Saturday, May 2. OF Rajai Davis will start in right field and DH Victor Martinez will bat in the fifth spot in the lineup, with C Alex Avila hitting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Martinez ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) has six homers and 15 RBIs through 24 games but he is getting the day off because he is hitless in his last 10 at-bats and has struck out in 11 of his last 17 at-bats. Davis ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) is batting .389 in his last five games and could be worth a low-end flyer on FantasyScore.

Wed, 29 Apr 2015 07:37:11 -0700

Tigers | Rajai Davis was available

Tue, 28 Apr 2015 21:17:21 -0700

Updating a previous report, Detroit Tigers OF Rajai Davis (groin) was available off the bench Tuesday, April 28, against the Minnesota Twins.

Fantasy Tip: With Davis ($2,700; or 5.4% of cap) sidelined it was Anthony Gose ($2,200; 4.4% of cap) getting the nod in center field. Until Davis can return and prove his legs are 100 percent, as speed is his calling card, FantasyScore owners can avoid him.

Tigers | Rajai Davis not in lineup Tuesday

Tue, 28 Apr 2015 13:23:30 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF Rajai Davis (groin) is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, April 28, against the Minnesota Twins. OF Anthony Gose is in center field.

Fantasy Tip: Two factors are at work here for Davis ($2,700, 5.4% of cap). Mike Pelfrey, a right-hander, is starting for the Twins, and Davis may still have some lingering groin issues. Gose ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is a cheaper source of production in the outfield.
