Tigers | Rajai Davis not playing Monday

Mon, 27 Apr 2015 16:31:12 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF Rajai Davis (groin) is not in the starting lineup Monday, April 27, after injuring his groin Sunday, April 26. OF Anthony Gose was dropped to ninth in the batting order against Minnesota Twins SP Tommy Milone Monday, and he's starting in center field.

Fantasy Tip: Gose ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is having a fine young season (15-for-45, .333, with three stolen bases), but he's normally a platoon partner with Davis that only faces right-handed hitters. He's not as attractive to FantasyScore owners while facing a southpaw and hitting at the bottom of the batting order.

Detroit Tigers OF Rajai Davis (groin) is day-to-day with a right groin strain suffered in the Sunday, April 26, game against the Cleveland Indians.

Fantasy Tip: Davis ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) was getting hot with his bat and he had several stolen bases despite only seeing action against a select group of pitchers. Watch his status and see what happens.

Tigers | Rajai Davis swipes three bags

Sat, 25 Apr 2015 13:58:40 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF Rajai Davis had three stolen bases Saturday, April 25. It was his ninth three-steal game since 2006, which is the most in the majors during that stretch.

Fantasy Tip: Davis ($2,700, 5.4% of your cap) had three steals entering the game and is more valuable in traditional formats than in daily games. He's still worth the low-end flyer on FantasyScore.

Tigers | Rajai Davis hitting leadoff vs. White Sox

Sun, 19 Apr 2015 06:32:05 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF Rajai Davis is batting leadoff against the Chicago White Sox Sunday, April 19.

Fantasy Tip: Davis ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) makes for a nice upside play in FantasyScore contests Sunday. He owned lefties last season with a .356/.382/.557 slash line, however opposing starter Jose Quintana is an above-average starter. Keep Davis in mind if you're chasing cap relief for your daily lineups.

Tigers | Rajai Davis receives another start

Fri, 17 Apr 2015 10:25:57 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF Rajai Davis is starting in left field and hitting ninth in the batting order against Chicago White Sox SP Jeff Samardzija Friday, April 17.

Fantasy Tip: Davis ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) is getting the nod again since Victor Martinez (knee) is taking another day off. Despite hitting a home run Wednesday, Davis loses some fantasy appeal by dropping to the ninth spot. He also hit only .247 with four home runs in 312 at-bats against right-handers in 2014.

Tigers | Rajai Davis starting again

Wed, 15 Apr 2015 11:18:56 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF Rajai Davis is starting in center field and hitting leadoff for the second straight day against Pittsburgh Pirates left-handed SP Francisco Liriano Wednesday, April 15. OF Anthony Gose will start on the bench again.

Fantasy Tip: Davis ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) is expected to start against lefties this year while in a platoon with Gose. Davis should be in consideration for a FantasyScore lineup spot today after hitting .356 with four of his eight home runs against lefties in 2014. He also has three stolen bases already this year.

Tigers | Rajai Davis draws start vs. righty

Tue, 14 Apr 2015 12:43:34 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF Rajai Davis is starting in center field and hitting leadoff against Pittsburgh Pirates SP A.J. Burnett Tuesday, April 14, with OF Anthony Gose receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Davis ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) has seen his fantasy value drop because he's on the weak end of a platoon in center field with Gose, who has played well to start the year. However, Davis is a sneaky sleeper play at FantasyScore today against Burnett, who allows plenty of stolen bases.

Tigers | Rajai Davis sitting Wednesday

Wed, 08 Apr 2015 08:55:37 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF Rajai Davis is out of the lineup Wednesday, April 8.

Fantasy Tip: Avoid the speedster on FantasyScore Wednesday. His replacement, Anthony Gose ($3,900, 7.8% of your cap) is a decent low-end flyer.

Tigers | Detroit's leadoff options

Thu, 19 Feb 2015 10:27:23 -0800

Detroit Tigers 2B Ian Kinsler is expected to bat leadoff this year against right-handed pitchers, with OF Rajai Davis in the leadoff spot against lefties.

Fantasy Tip: Kinsler is no longer an option in the first couple of rounds of fantasy drafts, but he remains a very consistent top-level option at the keystone. Davis is a late-round target for stolen bases, but be aware that he is likely to lose some playing time to Anthony Gose eventually.

Tigers | Anthony Gose the favorite in CF?

Tue, 17 Feb 2015 15:06:18 -0800

Detroit Tigers OF Anthony Gose could be the favorite to start in center field this year over OF Rajai Davis, but the Tigers are likely to go with a platoon at the position. Gose must prove he can hit left-handers (career .208/.246/.267 slash line against southpaws) to have the everyday role. Davis hit .282/.320/.401 last year and has stolen at least 30 bases in every year since 2009.

Fantasy Tip: Because Gose and Davis will likely cannabilize each other's playing time, at least to start the season, they're both no more than fourth or fifth outfielders in deep mixed leagues for their stolen base abilities. If one of them secures a job outright, though, we'll likely see their draft stock rise as a late-round SB target.
