Indians | Rajai Davis sitting vs. Baltimore

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 07:22:13 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Rajai Davis is not in the starting lineup against the Baltimore Orioles Sunday, July 24.

Fantasy Tip: Davis is in a loose split for playing time with Tyler Naquin, Lonnie Chisenhall and Jose Ramirez, and the veteran Davis could be the odd-man out most frequently against righties. Davis has been solid this season with 48 runs, nine home runs, 35 RBI, 24 stolen bases and a .263/.323/.420 slash line, but fewer at-bats going forward would be a serious hindrance to his fantasy value.

Indians | Rajai Davis sitting out vs. Orioles

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 13:06:36 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Rajai Davis is not in the starting lineup against the Baltimore Orioles Friday, July 22.

Fantasy Tip: Davis is in jeopardy of receiving fewer starts going forward, if he hasn't already seen a cut in playing time. He has only started three of seven games since the All-Star break, after all. It could be a prime time to sell high on Davis. He should maintain some value because of his speed, but slotting in as a specialist against lefties is a significant concern.

Indians | Tyler Naquin out Tuesday

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 13:38:51 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Tyler Naquin is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, July 19, against the Kansas City Royals. OF Rajai Davis replaces Naquin and leads off against SP Brian Flynn.

Fantasy Tip: Naquin is out due to the lefty-lefty matchup. A previous post suggests to play Davis because of the damage he can do at the top of the lineup, especially against an unfamiliar Kansas City pitcher.

Indians | Rajai Davis in leadoff slot Tuesday

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 13:32:24 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Rajai Davis is in the leadoff spot Tuesday, July 19, against Kansas City Royals SP Brian Flynn.

Fantasy Tip: With a .260-9-34 hitting line and 24 stolen bases, Davis is a double threat leading off. This, plus the combination of a relatively new pitcher, means Cleveland may be testing a new lineup to see if it can get to Flynn right away. Davis is a must-play in all formats with that combo of power and speed.

Cleveland Indians OF Rajai Davis is not in the starting lineup against Minnesota Twins SP Kyle Gibson Sunday, July 17. OF Abraham Almonte will start in left field and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Almonte has only two hits in 16 at-bats this month and probably should be avoided in all fantasy leagues.

Indians | Two Indians sit

Sat, 16 Jul 2016 14:30:02 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Yan Gomes and OF Rajai Davis are out of the lineup Saturday, July 16, with OF Tyler Naquin hitting eighth and C Chris Gimenez hitting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Naquin is pretty much a regular at this point as he has a .309-9-22 line. His lineup placement isn't great, but he's still a low-end grab against Tyler Duffey. Gimenez has no fantasy value.

Indians | Rajai Davis, Abraham Almonte starting

Sat, 09 Jul 2016 10:11:38 -0700

Cleveland Indians OFs Rajai Davis and Abraham Almonte are in the starting lineup against New York Yankees SP CC Sabathia Saturday, July 9. OFs Tyler Naquin and Lonnie Chisenhall are receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Although Davis is batting .350 over the last seven days, he is just 8-for-44 in his career versus Sabathia, so he is not a recommended option in DFS this afternoon. Almonte is just 1-for-10 since returning from an 80-game suspension and should also be avoided.

Indians | Rajai Davis not in Friday lineup

Fri, 08 Jul 2016 12:34:43 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Rajai Davis is not in the lineup Friday, July 8, against the New York Yankees. 3B Jose Ramirez is in left field and 3B Juan Uribe is at third base. Ramirez is batting fifth against Yankees SP Chad Green and Uribe is hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: The Indians are just getting Davis another day off, his second in three games. There is nothing to worry about as Davis (.271-9-33, 22 stolen bases) is having a fantastic season. Ramirez (.296-4-34, 10 SB) carries some fantasy value and can be started in all formats. Uribe (.222-7-22) is on a cool streak at the plate and can be avoided for the time being despite his plate power.

Indians | Two Indians sitting out

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 06:54:19 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Rajai Davis and C Yan Gomes are out of the lineup Wednesday, July 6, with OF Tyler Naquin hitting eighth and C Chris Gimenez hitting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Naquin has a .313-7-19 line in 144 at-bats, which is superb. His upside is pretty minimal at the bottom of this lineup, but he's worth a low-end start against Michael Fulmer. Gimenez is hitting just .187 and isn't worth consideration in DFS.

Indians | Rajai Davis hits for the cycle in defeat

Sat, 02 Jul 2016 14:04:14 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Rajai Davis became the eighth player in club history to hit for the cycle on Saturday, July 02, against the Toronto Blue Jays, leading off the game with a homer, tripling home a run in the third inning, doubling and scoring in the seventh and singling in the ninth. Davis also stole his American League-best 22nd base of the season in the 9-6 loss.

Fantasy Tip: Davis became the first Indian since Travis Hafner on August 14, 2003, and second player this year (Freddie Freeman) to pull the rare feat. The 35-year-old has been quite the waiver-wire find in most leagues and is in line to smash most of his previous career-best marks; today's homer gave him nine, which surpassed his personal best of eight. Davis has emerged as a top-10 outfielder in fantasy and should be started in all leagues.
