Mon, 20 May 2013 14:32:41 -0700 Philadelphia Phillies C Carlos Ruiz (hamstring) will land on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, May 21, with a Grade 2 hamstring strain. Fantasy Tip: Ruiz was disappointing at the plate after missing the first 25 games of the season thanks to a PED suspension. In single-catcher mixed league formats, it's probably safe to drop Ruiz at this time. Erik Kratz is expected to take over the primary catching duties, although he could split with Humberto Quintero.
Sun, 19 May 2013 20:28:21 -0700 Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Phillies C Carlos Ruiz (hamstring) will have an MRI Monday, May 20, and a trip to the 15-day disabled list appears likely due to a strained right hamstring.
Sun, 19 May 2013 14:48:10 -0700 Updating previous reports, Philadelphia Phillies C Carlos Ruiz (hamstring) and 1B Ryan Howard (knee) will undergo MRIs.
Sun, 19 May 2013 14:07:43 -0700 Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Phillies C Carlos Ruiz (hamstring) did not travel with the team to Miami because his hamstring is still sore. The team will decide Monday, May 20, if Ruiz needs to go on the disabled list.
Sun, 19 May 2013 11:35:08 -0700 Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Phillies C Carlos Ruiz (hamstring) was removed from the game Sunday, May 19, because of a right hamstring strain. Fantasy Tip: Unfortunately, this is an injury which usually requires a trip to the disabled list, especially for catchers. C Humberto Quintero is expected to be called up from Triple-A Lehigh Valley if a DL stint for Ruiz is required, but C Erik Kratz will get the bulk of the work behind the plate. Kratz has minimal value in NL-only leagues.
Sun, 19 May 2013 10:22:48 -0700 Philadelphia Phillies C Carlos Ruiz (leg) was injured while running the bases in the bottom of the second inning Sunday, May 19, against the Cincinnati Reds. He was replaced in the top of the third inning by C Erik Kratz.
Mon, 06 May 2013 11:54:48 -0700 Philadelphia Phillies C Carlos Ruiz went 0-for-2 Sunday, May 5, and is 2-for-20 to start the season since returning from his 25-game suspension. Fantasy Tip: Remember, Ruiz has only been back for a week since serving his suspension, so give him some time to get his rhythm against major league pitchers back. For now, it might be wise to keep him benched until he starts showing signs of life.
Sun, 28 Apr 2013 08:15:58 -0700 Philadelphia Phillies C Carlos Ruiz is batting fifth against the New York Mets Sunday, April 28. OF Ben Revere (quadriceps) remains out of the lineup and 1B Ryan Howard is getting a day off. INF Kevin Frandsen will play first base, INF/OF Freddy Galvis will play left field and OF John Mayberry Jr. will start in center field.
Sun, 28 Apr 2013 08:11:53 -0700 The Philadelphia Phillies have reinstated C Carlos Ruiz from the restricted list. In a corresponding move, C Humberto Quintero has been designated for assignment.
Mon, 22 Apr 2013 16:34:52 -0700 Philadelphia Phillies C Carlos Ruiz will begin a rehab assignment for Single-A Clearwater Tuesday, April 23, and he's eligible to return from his 25-game suspension Sunday, April 28. Fantasy Tip: Ruiz is unlikely to be available on many waiver wires, but if he is, you must acquire him immediately. Ruiz will return as the club's starting catcher, and he's one of the most reliable hitting backstops in the game.
