Phillies | Carlos Ruiz won't return Friday

Tue, 01 Jul 2014 16:49:19 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies C Carlos Ruiz (concussion) will not return from the disabled list when eligible Friday, July 4, because his injury "is maybe a little more serious than we originally thought," according to general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. Ruiz isn't traveling with the team and is under supervision of a team doctor. Manager Ryne Sandberg said Ruiz has failed his concussion tests and is recovering slowly. Ruiz missed 20 games with a concussion in 2010.

Fantasy Tip: Concussions are injuries that are tough to predict how a player will recover from. In Ruiz's case, it's not good that he's had a prior concussion. If you own him, plan for a long absence and go from there.
