Texas Rangers C Geovany Soto (knee) will be activated this weekend to take the roster spot of RP Jason Frasor, who was traded to the Kansas City Royals.

Fantasy Tip: Soto is expected to split time at catcher with Robinson Chirinos for the remainder of the second half of the season. Soto would be a nice addition in two-catcher or AL-only leagues if you need some at-bats from your catcher spot.

Updating a previous item, Texas Rangers C Geovany Soto was arrested Wednesday, July 9, on a charge of marijuana possession under two ounces, according to Sgt. Robert Eberling. Soto was released on $500 bail.

Fantasy Tip: Soto was on the verge of going on a rehab assignment, and he was primed to join the team sometime after the All-Star break. That presumably won't happen now, and it's unknown how long it may be until he's allowed to return.

He's scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Round Rock Friday, July 4, and catch five innings. Soto is hoping to return from the disabled list July 18 to open the second half of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Soto could be a valuable addition in two-catcher leagues if he's available on your waiver wire for the second half of the season. He won't hit for average, but he could supply you with some needed power numbers.
