Texas Rangers C Geovany Soto (knee) underwent surgery Wednesday, March 26, to repair a torn lateral meniscus in his right knee. The surgery went as expected and Soto is expected to be sidelined 10 to 12 weeks.

Texas Rangers C Geovany Soto (knee) will miss 10 to 12 weeks with a torn lateral meniscus in his knee, and he's likely to have surgery Wednesday, March 26.

Fantasy Tip: J.P. Arencibia will open the season as Texas' starting catcher. He's worth a look in league's that start two catchers if you owned Soto or weren't happy with your current second catcher.

Texas Rangers 1B Brett Nicholas will get some work behind the plate with C Geovany Soto (ankle) sidelined for three weeks after ankle surgery. He was drafted as a catcher, but he has seen time at first base and catcher over the past four years. "The biggest thing is I don't have the greatest arm," Nicholas said Saturday, Feb. 22. "I need to develop a quick release and work on my accuracy. If I can get my throws down and on target, everything will be good."

Texas Rangers C Geovany Soto (foot) underwent arthroscopic foot surgery Saturday, Feb. 22, and is expected to be sidelined for three weeks. The team hopes Soto will be ready for the start of the regular season. Soto is expected to resume baseball activities in about 10 days.
