It will likely be several weeks into the season before he is ready to return to the rotation. Dr. Keith Meister told the team McCarthy's elbow ligament is clean and there are no indications that Tommy John surgery would be needed. McCarthy will return to Dallas Monday, March 10, and receive a blood platelet injection intended to speed up his recovery process.
