New York Mets manager Terry Collins said Wednesday, March 5, that he is considering hitting his pitchers eighth on occasion this season, trying to get his meat of the order more chances to drive in runs. "I think both (3B David Wright and OF Curtis Granderson) are RBI guys," Collins said. "My thought is: How do we get them more RBI chances and also give David, in particular, chances to drive in runs. It is a possibility I might try (hitting the pitcher eighth). I don't know that I will, but I might."

New York Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said OF Curtis Granderson won't be asked to play center field this year. OF Juan Lagares will start the opener in spring training, but he'll have to earn the job. The team will go with the best three offensive weapons in the outfield, meaning OFs Eric Young Jr. and Chris B. Young could also be options.
Fantasy Tip: ESPNNewYork.com's Adam Rubin is suggesting that Eric Young is likely to be the biggest beneficiary of playing time in the outfield over Lagares, if he can improve his on-base percentage. Granderson and Chris Young are expected to fill the corner outfield spots.

The New York Mets agreed with free-agent OF Curtis Granderson (Yankees) on a four-year contract.
Fantasy Tip: Granderson's value takes a hit with the move to Citi Field. He still has big power - probably not 40 homers - but 20-25 homers is more realistic. He'll likely hit in the middle of the order, somewhere behind David Wright, which should boost his RBI potential. Granderson has hit just .143 in 21 at-bats in Citi Field with one homer. However, he has been a pretty solid player on the road in his career. Look for Granderson to be a great third outfielder in fantasy.
