Mets | Curtis Granderson sitting vs. lefty

Thu, 21 May 2015 07:31:34 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson is not in the starting lineup against the St. Louis Cardinals Thursday, May 21. OF John Mayberry Jr. is starting in right field and batting sixth Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: With a southpaw starting on getaway day, it is a fine time to provide Granderson ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) a rest day. Make sure to avoid him in all formats Thursday. Mayberry ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) has been relegated to pinch-hit duties and is sporting a .135/.200/.270 slash line over 40 plate appearances. Aim higher in all fantasy formats.

Mets | Curtis Granderson has good history against Hammel

Wed, 13 May 2015 14:15:16 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson is 6-for-17 with two home runs in his career against Chicago Cubs SP Jason Hammel. Granderson faces Hammel Wednesday, May 13.

Fantasy Tip: Granderson ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) is still only hitting .234 (25-for-107) with three home runs and 10 RBI, but at least he's done all his damage off right-handed hurlers in 2015. If you're going to play Grandy at FantasyScore, tonight would be the night.

Mets | Curtis Granderson sitting vs. Cubs

Mon, 11 May 2015 14:44:40 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson is not in the starting lineup against the Chicago Cubs Monday, May 11.

Fantasy Tip: With tough-lefty Jon Lester on the hill, it is a good opportunity to rest left-handed-hitting Granderson ($2,800, 5.6% of cap). Make sure to avoid him in all fantasy formats Monday. Granderson has been good, but not great, and he remains a low-end outfield option in the majority of seasonal leagues. Over his past 44 plate appearances, he has just four runs, two home runs, five RBI, but a respectable .282/.341/.513 slash line. FantasyScore players should reserve their Granderson usage to when he lands in a favorable matchup.

John Mayberry Jr. ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) is receiving the start and has received nine at bats so far in 2015. He could be a cheaper option to consider on FantasyScore since he has had some success against Eric Stults in their limited matchups.

Mets | Results not there for Curtis Granderson

Mon, 13 Apr 2015 10:08:24 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson has just one hit in 16 at-bats to start the year (0.63), but he has seven walks, which is tied for the league lead. His .348 on-base percentage at the top of the lineup has helped the Mets set the table for the other hitters. "He's really got good strike zone discipline," hitting coach Kevin Long said. "You rarely see him expand out of the zone. His ability to make those decisions is exactly why he gets on base. To walk four times against the Nationals' staff is quite a chore. They're some of the best strike throwers in the league."

Fantasy Tip: Granderson ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) had a very good spring training, but the results have yet to carry over into the regular season. Be patient. The fact that he's having good at-bats and battling the opposing pitcher suggests he should find his groove soon.

Tigers | Miguel Cabrera records milestone

Sun, 12 Apr 2015 13:57:58 -0700

Detroit Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera recorded back-to-back four-hit games over the weekend. It is the first time since Curtis Granderson (June 26 and 27, 2008) that a Tiger has done this.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) has seen his price drop a little due to injuries, but he's still a great buy at this salary. Any injury issues that dogged Cabrera at the start of the year appear to have vanished.

Mets | Curtis Granderson leaves game

Thu, 02 Apr 2015 09:49:35 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson (leg) left the spring game Thursday, April 2, after being hit in the right leg with a pitch. However, TV cameras caught him giving the thumbs up.

Fantasy Tip: Granderson ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) and the Mets face Max Scherzer and the Washington Nationals on opening day. Granderson had a very nice spring and fares much better against right-handed pitchers, but going against Scherzer should have you shying away from him at FantasyScore on opening day.
