Chicago White Sox minor league OF Conor Jackson will play third base for Triple-A Charlotte, marking the first time he has played the position since attending the University of California (Berkeley). He said getting used to throwing to first base will be the biggest adjustment for him.

The Texas Rangers released Ps Joe Beimel and Mitch Stetter and OF Conor Jackson Monday, March 26. The team also optioned P Mark Hamburger to Triple-A Round Rock and assigned P Sean Green to minor league camp.

The Texas Rangers are trying to decide to keep two outfielders in OFs Craig Gentry and Julio Borbon or go with 1B Brad Hawpe (hamstring) or OF Conor Jackson. Hawpe will play in two games Thursday, March 22, to catch up after dealing with injuries all spring.

Texas Rangers OF Conor Jackson (eye) is having five stitches removed from his eye Wednesday, March 14. He will be in the lineup for the team's spring game Tuesday, March 13.

Texas Rangers OF Craig Gentry (hamstring) is returning to game action Monday, March 12. 1B Brad Hawpe (hamstring) will play in his first Cactus League game Monday. OF Conor Jackson (eye) will return to spring action as well, and his left eye is fully healed. C Dusty Brown (arm) won't play Monday due to arm fatigue.

Texas Rangers OF Conor Jackson (eye) will work in the batting cages Sunday, March 11. He will return to normal hitting and fielding activities if he can prove that he can see out of his left eye during the session.

Updating previous reports, Texas Rangers OF Conor Jackson (eye) will have his activity limited for 24 hours as a precautionary measure following an incident Friday, March 9, where he was hit in his left eye by a fly ball while playing right field. He received five stitches but does not have concussion symptoms.

Texas Rangers OF Conor Jackson (eye) lost a ball in the sun in the team's spring game Friday, March 9, and it hit him above his left eye. Jackson required five stitches to close a gash above his eye.

The Texas Rangers have signed free-agent OF Conor Jackson (Red Sox) and RP Joe Beimel (Pirates) to minor league contracts which include invitations to spring training. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.
