Orioles | Mark Trumbo could play first base

Thu, 28 Apr 2016 17:20:05 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Mark Trumbo could be used at first base during this weekend's series against the Chicago White Sox, according to manager Buck Showalter.

Fantasy Tip: Trumbo already qualifies as a first baseman in most seasonal leagues, even though he has not played the position this season due to the presence of 1B Chris Davis. He has been Baltimore's regular right fielder in 2016 but has also seen time in left field and at designated hitter. Trumbo was leading the American League with a .359 average entering play Thursday, April 28, and should be viewed as a solid option in both seasonal and daily formats.

Orioles | Matt Wieters, Pedro Alvarez out

Thu, 28 Apr 2016 12:26:56 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters and 1B Pedro Alvarez are not in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox left-handed SP John Danks Thursday, April 28. C Caleb Joseph is behind the plate and is batting ninth, while OF Nolan Reimold starts again in left field and is hitting seventh. OF Mark Trumbo is serving as the designated hitter and batting cleanup.

Fantasy Tip: All Orioles players have some intrigue in Baltimore tonight facing the very hittable Danks. Joseph's daily value is limited while hitting ninth, however. Alvarez is off to a slow start (.186, no home runs) and could be benched regularly against lefties. Pay up for Trumbo tonight.

Orioles | Mark Trumbo drives in four

Sat, 23 Apr 2016 19:28:43 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Mark Trumbo went 3-for-5 with four RBI in an 8-3 win over the Kansas City Royals Saturday, April 23.

Fantasy Tip: His .383 average is unsustainable, but his power is legit, and a prime spot in a potent Baltimore lineup should provide him with RBI opportunities all year. If you scored him late in your draft, enjoy the ride.

Orioles | Pedro Alvarez sitting Thursday

Thu, 21 Apr 2016 12:11:12 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 1B Pedro Alvarez is not in the starting lineup Thursday, April 21. OF Mark Trumbo is serving as the designated hitter, which allows OF Nolan Reimold to start in right field. Reimold is hitting ninth against Baltimore Orioles SP Marco Estrada.

Fantasy Tip: Alvarez could find himself on the bench more often because of a 4-for-32 (.125) start with seven strikeouts. Reconsider him for a roster spot in mixed formats. Reimold has his daily upside limited because he's hitting ninth, but he already has two homers on the year and faces a decent matchup.

Orioles | Mark Trumbo riding a hot streak

Mon, 18 Apr 2016 12:38:10 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Mark Trumbo has eight runs, a double, five home runs and 11 RBI with a .320/.346/.960 slash line over his past six games.

Fantasy Tip: There is no denying the huge power upside Trumbo boasts, but he isn't going to maintain his current .386/.413/.750 slash line. It isn't out of the question to consider selling high here, but Trumbo has the potential to return 90 runs, 35 home runs and 100 RBI with a .250 batting average, too. It is likely best to sit back and enjoy his production.

Orioles | Mark Trumbo pads homer total

Fri, 15 Apr 2016 21:09:58 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Mark Trumbo went 2-for-4 with two home runs, five RBI and two runs scored in an 11-5 win over the Texas Rangers Friday, April 15, and he has five home runs in his last five games.

Fantasy Tip: His first season with the Orioles has gotten off to a fast start, and while you can forget about him maintaining his current batting average, 30-plus homers is looking like a real possibility.

Orioles | Mark Trumbo homers again

Wed, 13 Apr 2016 00:49:57 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Mark Trumbo hit his second home run in as many days Tuesday, April 12, as the Orioles scored a 9-5 win over the Boston Red Sox.

Fantasy Tip: Trumbo is off to a .464 start this season, and considering he is approximately a .250 hitter Trumbo won't likely keep up this torrid pace. Still, Trumbo appears to have found a solid home in which he could hit 20-25 homers a year. If that's the case, Trumbo is worth keeping on your bench as an OF option.
