Blue Jays | Brett Lawrie an option at second base

The Toronto Blue Jays believe that 3B Brett Lawrie could be an option at second base. Lawrie is expected to come off the disabled list this week, and is getting time at second base in a rehab start with the Class-A Dunedin Blue Jays. Manager John Gibbons has said that Lawrie will return to third base when he returns to the lineup, the team is not comfortable with multiple players playing out of position. "I'm not so sure that's smart," he said.

Toronto Blue Jays OF Colby Rasmus ripped former manager John Farrell with recent comments about handling stressful situations. "I'm not trying to bash anybody by starting up crap, but I think John Gibbons has got a little bit of a better idea of how to handle it," Rasmus said, "just because I don't see him as a guy that's going to hit that panic button and get tight and into kind of freak-out mode."

Orioles | Five of six coaches signed

The Baltimore Orioles have agreed to a contract with hitting coach Jim Presley, guaranteeing that five of Buck Showalter's six coaches from 2012 will return in 2013. The lone question now is third-base coach DeMarlo Hale, who has interviewed to be John Gibbons' bench coach in Toronto.
