Sean Jensen, of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, reports Minnesota Vikings DE Kenny Mixon's status with the NFL remains unresolved, according to a league spokesman. Mixon has served a 30-day sentence in the Hennepin County workhouse and a 60-day sentence under house arrest stemming from his second drunken driving conviction in less than 19 months. According to the NFL's substance abuse policy, two-time offenders face a "likely" suspension, but the league makes decisions on a case-by-case basis. Mixon says he doesn't think he will miss any time. "It should be a done deal," he said. "I'm fined, and this should be behind me. I shouldn't have to miss any games, from what I understand."

Bill Williamson, of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, reports Minnesota Vikings DE Kenny Mixon began his 30-day sentence in the Hennepin County Workhouse on Monday, April 5, as a result from his second DUI conviction in less than 16 months. Mixon is in the work-release program and will have to spend evenings and weekends at the workhouse. Once he serves 30 days, Mixon will be under house arrest for 60 days but will be allowed to take part in the Vikings' offseason program. Mixon will not have to serve the final 275 days of the one-year jail term if he doesn't violate probation.

Updating a previous report, SportsLine.com reports Minnesota Vikings DE Kenny Mixon, who was convicted of drunken driving last month, has been sentenced to 30 days in the county workhouse and 60 days of home monitoring. Mixon will wear a bracelet with a transmitter so authorities can track his movements under the monitoring program. He was also sentenced to 216 hours of community service and ordered to play $3,100 to a panel that educates public school children on the dangers of drunken driving.

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports the NFL is investigating the situation surrounding the drunken driving conviction of Minnesota Vikings DE Kenny Mixon, and an NFL spokesman said Monday, March 29, that a possible punishment would not be announced before Mixon's sentencing Thursday, April 1. Because Mixon has had four alcohol-related incidents during his NFL career, the league is considering a suspension of up to four games under its discipline policy. Mixon also could be fined a substantial amount. Mixon's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, has been lobbying league officials to avoid a suspension.

Minnesota Vikings DE Kenny Mixon (hand) had minor surgery on his right hand, to repair a broken bone around his thumb and has a cast on to protect the hand. Mixon did not practice Tuesday, Dec. 23, but head coach Mike Tice said Mixon will practice Wednesday, Dec. 24. Before the Sunday, Dec. 28, game against the Arizona Cardinals, Mixon will have the cast cut off and replaced with a more acceptable protective measure.

Mixon, whose blood alcohol level was .19, also faces charges of driving with a revoked license and having open containers in his vehicle. He could be placed in rehabilitation or an outpatient program. If convicted, Mixon faces a fine by the NFL, as this would be his second such conviction. Although he was acquitted of his last DUI charge, prosecutors say they are treating it as his third "alcohol-related issue," and Mixon faces jail-time if convicted.

"We'll see how he is tomorrow and we'll see how he is Sunday but he'll obviously be listed as questionable all they way up to the time of the game and he really is fifty-fifty. With just ten on the year, they rank 27th overall in the sack department. This weekend, they’ll unveil a new alignment that has LDE Kenny Mixon in to DT along side Chris Hovan and puts backup DE Lorenzo Bromell opposite of DE Lance Johnstone. The new alignment won’t be their base package, but it is one of their ways of trying to get more sacks and pressure on opposing QBs.

Even after signing DE Kenny Mixon Saturday, the Vikings probably are still in the market for a pass-rushing specialist who would play right defensive end.

According to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com, free agent DE Kenny Mixon (Dolphins) completed his visit with the Bengals Friday. It still appears the Vikings have a better chance to sign him. The Bengals like Mixon, but they aren’t ready to get into heavy negotiations until they go through the bulk of their scheduled visits this coming week.
