Twins | Joe Mauer, Kurt Suzuki resting

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 08:38:02 -0700

Minnesota Twins 1B Joe Mauer and C Kurt Suzuki are out of the lineup against Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg Sunday, April 24. 1B Byung Ho Park will bat cleanup and play first base and C J.R. Murphy will start behind the plate and bat seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Mauer is batting .328 through 18 games but is receiving the day off because the game is in a National League stadium and Byung Ho Park is getting the start at first base. Murphy is just 2-for-26 and is not a recommended fantasy option this afternoon versus Strasburg.

Fantasy Tip: Rosario has homered in consecutive games and is the only one of the trio worth a low-end start against Taylor Jungmann.

Minnesota Twins SS Eduardo Escobar and C Kurt Suzuki are not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Jered Weaver Saturday, April 16. SS Eduardo Nunez will start at shortstop and is batting first, while C J.R. Murphy will start at catcher and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Nunez has gone 7-for-9 with two RBI so far this season and could be a sleeper option for owners to use in daily fantasy leagues. Murphy has struggled at the plate so far and probably should be avoided in all leagues.

Twins | Kurt Suzuki on power binge

Tue, 29 Mar 2016 13:47:41 -0700

Minnesota Twins C Kurt Suzuki hit his team-leading fourth spring home run Tuesday, March 29, against the Boston Red Sox and SP Joe Kelly. Suzuki had five home runs all of last season.

Fantasy Tip: Take his spring numbers with a grain of salt, since Suzuki last hit double-digit home runs back in 2011 with the Oakland Athletics. He doesn't lift the ball enough in the air to give hope for his power numbers on the wrong side of 30. He's a second catcher in two-catcher leagues and purely an AL-only option.

Twins | Kurt Suzuki entering camp as starter

Sat, 20 Feb 2016 08:56:37 -0800

Minnesota Twins C Kurt Suzuki will begin spring training as the team's starting catcher, according to manager Paul Molitor. C J.R. Murphy will serve as the backup.

Fantasy Tip: Some people believes that Murphy would be the starter, but Suzuki will be given the first chance to earn the job. Suzuki hit only .240 with five home runs last season and probably should only be consider in AL-only leagues. Murphy could win the starting job at some point and could be an option in some two-catcher leagues as well as AL-only leagues.

Twins | Kurt Suzuki out against Cleveland

Mon, 28 Sep 2015 13:02:03 -0700

Minnesota Twins C Kurt Suzuki is not in the starting lineup Monday, Sept. 28. C Chris Herrmann is starting behind the plate and batting eighth against Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Suzuki ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) in all fantasy formats Monday. He remains a low-end option in AL-only, cavernous mixed and two-catcher formats, but he should start the rest of the games with Minnesota chasing a playoff berth. Herrmann ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is nothing more than a desperation source of cap relief at FantasyScore Monday.

Twins | Kurt Suzuki receives good news

Wed, 09 Sep 2015 22:53:37 -0700

Updating a previous report, Minnesota Twins C Kurt Suzuki (knee) was diagnosed with a bruised left knee and he is considered day to day.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) should be avoided in FantasyScore until he can officially return. Eric Fryer ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) or Chris Herrmann ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) might see a start if Suzuki is forced to miss time.
