Oakland Athletics OF Joe Gaetti, son of former 3B Gary Gaetti, is 10-for-22 (.455) with three homers and 10 RBIs in six games since being promoted to Triple-A Sacramento.

TampaBay.DevilRays.MLB.com reports the Tampa Bay Devil Rays named Skeeter Barnes the organization's minor league outfield and baserunning coordinator, and Dick Bosman the minor league pitching coordinator. Gary Gaetti will join the organization as the hitting coach for Triple-A Durham, and Neil Allen will take over as the pitching coach for Double-A Montgomery. Charlie Montoyo will manage Triple-A Durham after managing Double-A Montgomery to a Southern League title last season.

The Houston Chronicle is reporting Houston Astros hitting coach Gary Gaetti was fired Wednesday, July 12, paying the price for an offense tied for the worst batting average in the National League and the 27th worst average in the majors. Sean Berry, a former third baseman for the Astros, will become the team's interim hitting coach.

The Houston Chronicle's Brian McTaggart reports Houston Astros OF Chris Burke is hitting just .179 this season, including .140 in June, and as a result he was held out of the starting lineup June 15. He's been studying video and working with hitting coach Gary Gaetti but has yet to see the results. "It's one of those deals I can't put my finger on," Burke said. "I haven't swung the bat all that well. It's a matter of continuing to work to find what's missing."

Jim Molony, of Astros.MLB.com, reports the Houston Astros will replace current hitting coach Harry Spillman with former MLB 3B Gary Gaetti.
