Jason Cole, of the Miami Herald, reports Miami Dolphins head coach Dave Wannstedt declined to comment on former Dolphins DE Lorenzo Bromell on Tuesday, Aug. 19 because Bromell is under contract with the Minnesota Vikings. It is reported that the Minnesota Vikings are pondering whether to trade or release Bromell. Two sources indicated Miami would be very interested in re-acquiring Bromell if the price is right. Bromell is scheduled to make $1 million in base salary this season.

Jason Cole, of the Miami Herald, reports the Minnesota Vikings are pondering whether to trade or release Vikings DE Lorenzo Bromell, who does not get along with Vikings defensive coordinator George O'Leary. Agent Harold Lewis said Bromell and O'Leary were set to have a meeting this week to see if they could work out the problems. Bromell has fallen on the depth chart because O'Leary believe he has a penchant for making bad decisions.

Bill Williamson, of the Pioneer Press, reports the Minnesota Vikings would be happier with their defensive line if they could get more sacks. With just ten on the year, they rank 27th overall in the sack department. This weekend, they’ll unveil a new alignment that has LDE Kenny Mixon in to DT along side Chris Hovan and puts backup DE Lorenzo Bromell opposite of DE Lance Johnstone. The new alignment won’t be their base package, but it is one of their ways of trying to get more sacks and pressure on opposing QBs.

Kevin Seifert reports for the Star Tribune Minnesota Vikings DE Lorenzo Bromell is still trying to learn the team's defensive scheme as he battles DE Lance Johnstone for the starting job at right end. Right now, he remains on the second team behind Johnstone. The Vikings would like to reach the point where Bromell and Johnstone are splitting time at the position. Defensive line coach George O'Leary and coach Mike Tice said the competition between Bromell and Johnstone will continue until the final pre-season game, which, Bromell said, "I try not to worry about."

Vikings.com reports Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Tice said DE Lorenzo Bromell (thumb) suffered a dislocation at the top of his thumb during Wednesday's workout. Tice said Bromell was going for X-rays and to have the dislocation put back into place. He'll be OK according to Tice.

He said he was hoping to sign someone as early as Friday.

The Star Tribune reports the Minnesota Vikings continued to express interest in free agent DE Kenny Mixon (Dolphins), DL Brandon Mitchell (Patriots) and DE Lorenzo Bromell (Dolphins). They are hoping to sign two of the three over the next 10 days. Agent Drew Rosenhaus said he is negotiating with the team for Mixon. An agreement could come as early as Friday. The Vikings told Mitchell they see him at left end. Agent Jeff Durand said Mitchell likes the Minnesota situation, but he wants to be paid starter's money. Agent Harold Lewis said Bromell has no other visits scheduled, but if all things were equal, he prefers to stay in Miami.

The Star Tribune reports the Minnesota Vikings have plans to bring in free agent DL Kenny Mixon and Lorenzo Bromell of Miami and Brandon Mitchell (Patriots) on Monday night for visits. They also were working to set up visits for free agent LBs Henri Crockett (Atlanta) and Greg Favors (Tennessee) for Thursday or Friday. Another defensive lineman the Vikings would be interested in is the Rams Sean Moran. Cincinnati and Green Bay are reportedly other teams interested in Mixon. Coach Mike Tice feels the Vikings are going to lose some of their own free agents.
