Washington Nationals OF Mike Morse (lat) will head to the team's spring training facilities Monday, May 21, where he'll continue to see at-bats and work on his throwing. "I know he's chomping at the bit," manager Davey Johnson said. "I was going through the training room today, and he was bouncing a basketball. He was looking for something (the medical staff) would let him do." Morse hit off a tee again Friday, May 18.

Washington Nationals OF Mike Morse (lat) could return from the disabled list as early as June 1, according to skipper Davey Johnson. Morse is expected to report to Florida next week to receive at-bats in extended spring training, and he will return as the team's cleanup hitter.

Washington Nationals OF Mike Morse (lat) hit in the batting cages Tuesday, May 15, and he'll start hitting and throwing every other day in his rehab. He hopes to return to make his season debut June 8 against the Boston Red Sox.

Washington Nationals OF Mike Morse (lat) made throws from 50 to 60 feet and didn't have any problems Monday, May 14. Morse is hoping to return in June for Interleague play. "I think he can DH around the eighth of June, when we go Interleague," manager Davey Johnson said. "Hopefully, that will give him a month before he has to throw from the outfield. Hopefully, that injury will heal. If he is throwing well enough in the next three weeks and can hit, he'll be able to play."

Washington Nationals OF Mike Morse (lat) said he "feels good" in his recovery from a lat muscle strain. He is hoping to return in time to serve as the designated hitter in interleague play in early June. Morse isn't sure when he'll be able to start hitting and throwing.
