Sat, 18 May 2013 20:21:16 -0700 Seattle Mariners OF Mike Morse (eye) returned to the lineup Saturday, May 18, against the Cleveland Indians after missing the game Friday, May 17, due to eye irritation. Morse was hitless in four at-bats.
Fri, 17 May 2013 14:58:45 -0700 Seattle Mariners OF Mike Morse (eye) was scratched from the lineup with an eye irritation Friday, May 17.
Sun, 12 May 2013 23:56:24 -0700 Seattle Mariners manager Eric Wedge placed 3B Kyle Seager third in the hitting lineup and moved 1B Kendrys Morales and OF Mike Morse both down a spot in the lineup, to Nos. 4 and 5. Wedge said the moves were designed to take some pressure off Morales and Morse. "I've seen them both chasing more than they shouldn't be chasing," Wedge said.
Fri, 26 Apr 2013 11:28:30 -0700 Seattle Mariners OF Mike Morse (pinkie) is playing through a non-displaced fracture of his right pinkie finger and is hitting only .162 since he suffered the injury April 16. Fantasy Tip: Morse's injured pinkie finger has clearly affected his swing. Maybe the Mariners decide to put him on the disabled list when Michael Saunders returns. Regardless, it might be safe to sit Morse on your fantasy bench until we know he's 100 percent healthy or until he starts to turn things around.
Tue, 16 Apr 2013 14:33:30 -0700 Seattle Mariners OFs Mike Morse (finger) and Franklin Gutierrez (legs) are back in the lineup Tuesday, April 16.
Fri, 12 Apr 2013 10:19:45 -0700 Seattle Mariners OF Mike Morse (finger) could be out up to a week with a small fracture in the little finger of his right hand after being hit by a pitch Thursday, April 11. Manager Eric Wedge said it's a non-displaced fracture that could keep Morse out between three and seven days. Morse is hoping he can return Sunday, April 14. Fantasy Tip: Michael Saunders (shoulder) also landed on the DL Thursday, so the M's are short in the outfield at the moment. This means Jason Bay, Raul Ibanez and Endy Chavez will be leaned on heavily until Morse is back in the lineup. Bay is probably the most enticing option in AL-only leagues, and he'll likely continue to see the majority of PT when Morse returns.
Thu, 04 Apr 2013 14:58:22 -0700 Seattle Mariners OF Mike Morse hit his fourth home run in three games Thursday, April 4.
Tue, 02 Apr 2013 15:50:59 -0700 Seattle Mariners OF Franklin Gutierrez is not in the lineup Tuesday, April 2, and manager Eric Wedge said they would like to ease Gutierrez into the starting job in center field. OF Michael Saunders is in the leadoff spot against a right-handed pitcher. OF Raul Ibanez is in left field and OF Mike Morse is starting in right. Fantasy Tip: If you're skeptical about Gutierrez, we don't blame you. He just hasn't proven he can stay healthy over a full season, and his skills won't really help you unless he's playing consistently. Let this play out and see if he can earn consistent starts before considering adding him in very deep mixed leagues.
Fri, 15 Feb 2013 17:57:49 -0800 Seattle Mariners OF Mike Morse arrived to camp Thursday, Feb. 14, and got in some early hitting. He will be on the field Saturday, Feb. 16, for the first full-squad workout. "It's pretty cool being back here," Morse said. "It was funny yesterday in the cage, me and (OF Raul Ibanez) were hitting and I told him, 'Man, I feel like you and me are early right now to camp and we're still waiting on (3B Adrian Beltre, 1B Richie Sexson and 2B Jose Lopez) to get here.'"
Wed, 23 Jan 2013 21:59:40 -0800 Seattle Mariners OF Mike Morse will get a majority of his playing time in the outfield, but he is also available to play first base and perhaps even serve as a backup third baseman if needed.
