Marlins | Michael Morse in and batting fifth

Wed, 22 Jul 2015 15:00:49 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Michael Morse is playing first base and batting fifth against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Robbie Ray Wednesday, July 22. 1B Justin Bour is not in the starting lineup Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Morse ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is an extremely risky FantasyScore option, as he has a .211/.268/.316 slash line for the year. Plus, Ray ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) has a 2.29 ERA, a 2.57 FIP, a 1.07 WHIP and a 7.5 K/9 through his nine starts this season.

Marlins | Justin Bour sitting vs. Arizona

Wed, 22 Jul 2015 14:54:04 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Justin Bour is not in the starting lineup against the Arizona Diamondbacks Wednesday, July 22. 1B Michael Morse is starting at first base and batting fifth against Arizona SP Robbie Ray Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Bour ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) in all fantasy formats Wednesday. Lefty Ray ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) has been extremely effective of late, and Bour is a left-handed hitter. Morse ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is nothing more than a desperation flier for FantasyScore players, as he has a .211/.268/.316 slash line for the year.

Marlins | Cole Gillespie not in the lineup

Tue, 21 Jul 2015 15:29:57 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Cole Gillespie is not in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Jeremy Hellickson Tuesday, July 21. OF Christian Yelich will start in center field and is batting third, while OF Michael Morse will start in left field and is batting fifth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Gillespie ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) likely is receiving a day off and should return soon. Morse ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has only four hits in his last 10 at-bats and is not a great option for owners on FantasyScore.

Marlins | Michael Morse out again vs. Arizona

Mon, 20 Jul 2015 14:10:57 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Michael Morse is not in the starting lineup against the Arizona Diamondbacks Monday, July 20.

Fantasy Tip: Morse ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) has started just one of the four games since the All-Star break, and he is clearly on the outside looking in at playing time. He is replaceable in all but NL-only and cavernous mixed seasonal leagues.

Marlins | Michael Morse in LF Friday

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 13:12:38 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Michael Morse is starting in left field and hitting seventh against Philadelphia Phillies SP Adam Morgan Friday, July 17.

Fantasy Tip: Morse ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) is just 2-for-16 (.125) with a home run and RBI since returning from the DL, and he has only one hit in 19 at-bats against lefties this season. However, Morse is a cheap and affordable FantasyScore option with a nice matchup as a source of power in a hitter's park tonight.

Marlins | Ichiro Suzuki out of the lineup

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 12:56:44 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Ichiro Suzuki is not in the starting lineup against Philadelphia Phillies SP Adam Morgan Friday, July 17. 1B Michael Morse will start in left field and is batting seventh in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) may be sitting out since the team is facing a left-handed pitcher, but should return soon. Morse ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) has recorded only two hits since his return from the starting lineup and is not a great option for owners on FantasyScore.

Marlins | Michael Morse sitting vs. Reds

Sun, 12 Jul 2015 07:42:27 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Michael Morse is not in the starting lineup against the Cincinnati Reds Sunday, July 12.

Fantasy Tip: Morse ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) didn't start Saturday, July 11, either. He is reeling through his worst season since establishing himself as a regular in 2008. Morse enters the All-Star break with a disappointing six runs, three home runs, 11 RBI and .203/.265/.294 slash line. While he was sidelined due to injury for a stretch, he also failed to contribute when healthy. At this point, he is an afterthought in the majority of seasonal leagues.

Giants | SF interested in Michael Morse

Fri, 10 Jul 2015 15:45:45 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Michael Morse is a player the San Francisco Giants have shown some interest in acquiring, but the Marlins likely would not consider a trade unless the Giants are willing to take on most of the remaining $11 million in Morse's contract.

Fantasy Tip: Morse ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) recently came off the disabled list and has gone 2-for-10 with a home run in his return. Morse could see more playing time if he is traded but probably should be avoided on FantasyScore until he is more productive at the plate.

Marlins | Michael Morse starting Tuesday

Tue, 07 Jul 2015 13:42:03 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Michael Morse (finger, back) is starting Tuesday, July 7, against the Boston Red Sox for the first time since coming off the 15-day disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Morse ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) should be left alone until he can re-establish his bat. It may not take long, but better safe than sorry.

Marlins | Michael Morse back from DL

Sun, 05 Jul 2015 15:14:39 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Michael Morse (finger, back) came off the 15-day disabled list following rehab for a sprained finger and a tweaked back. Morse did not start but served as a pinch-hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Morse ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) should be avoided until he establishes a regular spot in the lineup and shows no signs of his injuries.
