The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports the Pittsburgh Pirates signed OF Jorge Cortes to a minor league contract. No financial terms of the deal were announced.

Ed Eagle, of Pirates.MLB.com, reports Pittsburgh Pirates OF Jorge Cortes has been named to the New York Mercantile Exchange All-Star Futures Game. Cortes is hitting .308 with 17 doubles, one triple, four home runs and 32 RBIs for Class-A Lynchburg.
