Indians | Jason Kipnis, Yan Gomes resting

Tue, 24 May 2016 14:27:27 -0700

Cleveland Indians 2B Jason Kipnis and C Yan Gomes are not in the starting lineup Tuesday, May 24. 3B/OF Jose Ramirez is starting at second base and is hitting second, while C Chris Gimenez draws the start behind the plate and is batting eighth against Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez has been solid for the Tribe this year while moving around multiple positions, but the matchup against the 9-0 Sale is one to avoid him in in daily formats. Gimenez is a no-brainer to avoid, as well. The backup catcher has a slash line of .182/.217/.318 with one home run and one RBI in 22 at-bats.

Indians | Two Indians sitting out

Mon, 23 May 2016 17:39:40 -0700

Cleveland Indians 1B Mike Napoli and C Yan Gomes are not in the starting lineup for the second game of a doubleheader against the Chicago White Sox Monday, May 23. 1B Carlos Santana will start at first base, while 2B Jason Kipnis will serve as the designated hitter. C Chris Gimenez will start at catcher and is batting eighth. 2B Michael Martinez will start at second base and is batting ninth against White Sox SP Erik Johnson.

Fantasy Tip: Gimenez has only one hit in his last at-bats and should be avoided in most leagues. Martinez went 2-for-4 in the first game of the doubleheader but is still not a great starting candidate.

Indians | Yan Gomes has the day off

Sat, 21 May 2016 11:27:05 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Yan Gomes is out of the lineup Saturday, May 21, with C Chris Gimenez hitting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Gimenez isn't a potent enough bat to use against Joe Kelly today.

Indians | Three Indians regulars sitting

Thu, 19 May 2016 14:43:42 -0700

Cleveland Indians 1B Mike Napoli (rest), OF Marlon Byrd (rest) and C Yan Gomes (rest) are all out of the lineup Thursday, May 19. 1B Carlos Santana is batting cleanup in place of Napoli, OF Lonnie Chisenhall is in right field batting sixth replacing Byrd, and C Chris Gimenez is behind the plate with Gomes out and batting eighth versus Cincinnati Reds SP Tim Adleman.

Fantasy Tip: Napoli is only out of the lineup because it's under National League rules, so Santana will take over first base duties this evening after sitting in last night's contest. His value goes up a notch due to his power potential. Meanwhile, Chisenhall and Gimenez are both inconsistent at the plate and probably not worth deploying in daily leagues.

Indians | Juan Uribe back in lineup Sunday

Sun, 15 May 2016 08:14:56 -0700

Cleveland Indians 3B Juan Uribe is back in the starting lineup against Minnesota Twins SP Tyler Duffey Sunday, May 15, batting sixth. INF/OF Jose Ramirez, who played the hot corner Saturday, May 14, will bat fifth and play left field Sunday. In addition, C Chris Gimenez will bat eighth and start behind the plate, while OF Michael Martinez will play right field and bat ninth. OFs Marlon Byrd and Rajai Davis and C Yan Gomes are not in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Although Uribe is just batting .224 in 76 at-bats this season, it's worth nothing that he is hitting .324 with two doubles and three RBI in 37 at-bats at home. Gimenez is worth considering as a value play in DFS, while Martinez is nothing more than a desperation source of salary cap relief.

Indians | Michael Brantley, Yan Gomes out

Tue, 10 May 2016 14:22:35 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Michael Brantley and C Yan Gomes are not in the starting lineup Tuesday, May 10. 3B Jose Ramirez is starting in left field and batting sixth, while C Chris Gimenez is doing the catching and hitting ninth against Houston Astros SP Chris Devenski.

Fantasy Tip: Brantley receives a breather after starting .231 with two extra-base hits in his first 39 at-bats since coming off the DL. Be patient with him as he shakes off rust. Ramirez continues to produce as a utility guy and is hitting .311 with 12 RBI in just 74 at-bats. He's certainly an attractive buy-low guy in daily formats tonight. Gimenez is a desperation low-end catching option.

Indians | Rajai Davis in, Yan Gomes out

Thu, 05 May 2016 11:23:14 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Rajai Davis is leading off Thursday, May 5, and C Yan Gomes has the day off. 1B Carlos Santana moves down to sixth, and C Chris Gimenez is hitting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Davis' playing time has been sparse of late, but his seven steals should keep him in traditional lineups. He's a low-end option in DFS against Michael Fulmer. Santana has showed good plate discipline with seven walks the last five games, but he earns more value out of the leadoff spot. He's a midrange consideration. Gimenez isn't worth DFS consideration in his first start of the season.

Rangers | Chris Gimenez nursing ankle injury

Tue, 29 Mar 2016 12:08:52 -0700

Texas Rangers C Chris Gimenez (ankle) has an infection in his left ankle and might not be ready to play by opening day. He is resuming baseball activities Tuesday, March 29, though. If Gimenez is not ready to start the season, Cs Bobby Wilson or Michael McKenry will back up starting C Robinson Chirinos.

Fantasy Tip: Gimenez is nothing more than a low-end backstop in cavernous mixed, AL-only and two-catcher formats, so the potential of missing a few games to start the season doesn't have a significant fantasy impact. Wilson or McKenry would have fleeting value in those deeper leagues, if they break camp as the backup catcher.

Rangers | Two Texas catchers have surgery

Fri, 16 Oct 2015 14:45:42 -0700

Texas Rangers Cs Chris Gimenez (shoulder) and Carlos Corporan (thumb) each underwent minor surgeries. Giminez had cleanup shoulder sergery, and Corporan had surgery on his left thumb.

Fantasy Tip: Gimenez finished the season strong with a .490 slugging percentage in the second half, and he was excellent against lefties with a 1.095 OPS. He could be a late-round flier in deep mixed and AL-only leagues next spring. Corporan isn't a fantasy-worthy option outside of AL-only leagues, and even there, he is a desperation start.

Rangers | Chris Gimenez catching Sunday

Sun, 13 Sep 2015 11:25:27 -0700

Texas Rangers C Chris Gimenez will bat ninth against Oakland Athletics SP Felix Doubront Sunday, Sept. 13.

Fantasy Tip: Gimenez ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is only 1-for-7 against Doubront in his career, although he is batting .333 versus southpaws this year. Consider him for your FantasyScore lineups if you need some cap relief.
