Indians | Roberto Perez, Chris Gimenez to split time

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 15:43:49 -0700

Cleveland Indians Cs Roberto Perez and Chris Gimenez will play "every other day for a while," according to manager Terry Francona. Perez isn't ready for a full workload after just returning from the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: The split in playing time will make both Perez and Gimenez largely unattractive to fantasy owners aside from maybe the deepest of AL-only formats. Gimenez is hitting a measly .188 with two homers and six RBI in 35 games.

Indians | Two Indians sit

Sat, 16 Jul 2016 14:30:02 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Yan Gomes and OF Rajai Davis are out of the lineup Saturday, July 16, with OF Tyler Naquin hitting eighth and C Chris Gimenez hitting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Naquin is pretty much a regular at this point as he has a .309-9-22 line. His lineup placement isn't great, but he's still a low-end grab against Tyler Duffey. Gimenez has no fantasy value.

Indians | Yan Gomes resting Thursday

Thu, 07 Jul 2016 12:42:43 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Yan Gomes is not in the starting lineup Thursday, July 7. C Chris Gimenez is behind the plate and is hitting ninth against New York Yankees SP Ivan Nova.

Fantasy Tip: Gimenez shouldn't attract much attention at all in any fantasy format. He's batting only .190 with two home runs and four RBI and is a desperation source of salary cap relief in DFS.

Indians | Two Indians sitting out

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 06:54:19 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Rajai Davis and C Yan Gomes are out of the lineup Wednesday, July 6, with OF Tyler Naquin hitting eighth and C Chris Gimenez hitting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Naquin has a .313-7-19 line in 144 at-bats, which is superb. His upside is pretty minimal at the bottom of this lineup, but he's worth a low-end start against Michael Fulmer. Gimenez is hitting just .187 and isn't worth consideration in DFS.

Indians | Cleveland resting two players

Sat, 02 Jul 2016 08:18:40 -0700

Cleveland Indians SS Francisco Lindor and C Yan Gomes are not in the starting lineup against Toronto Blue Jays SP Marco Estrada Saturday, July 2. SS Jose Ramirez will start at shortstop, while 3B Juan Uribe will start at third base and is batting seventh. C Chris Gimenez will start at catcher and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Uribe has at least one hit in seven of his last 10 games and has five home runs and eight RBI during that span. He should be a decent starting option in daily fantasy leagues. Gimenez is hitting only .200 in limited playing time this season and is not a strong option.

Indians | Lonnie Chisenhall, Yan Gomes resting

Thu, 30 Jun 2016 12:45:34 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Lonnie Chisenhall and C Yan Gomes are not in the starting lineup Thursday, June 30. OF Tyler Naquin is starting in right field and is hitting seventh, while C Chris Gimenez is behind the plate and batting ninth against Toronto Blue Jays SP R.A. Dickey.

Fantasy Tip: Despite the off day, Chisenhall has heated up recently and should be drawing attention from those in deep mixed leagues. Naquin is providing a nice average (.331 in 124 at-bats) but doesn't move the needle much in the counting stats (six home runs, 16 RBI) and is more of a deep sleeper in DFS. Gimenez is a desperation low-end catching consideration.

Indians | Trevor Bauer in sync with Chris Gimenez

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 18:10:57 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer has posted a 2.76 ERA in 11 starts since the club acquired C Chris Gimenez from the Texas Rangers May 4, and began using the battery together regularly. Gimenez feels that Bauer's recent success is due to him focusing on his strengths rather than trying to turn the 25-year-old right-hander into someone he's not. "People in the past have tried to make him a different pitcher than he really is," Gimenez said. "He's the type of guy who will throw all of his pitches, try to strike everyone out, which is fine. But he's a guy who lives at the top of the zone. People in the past have told him to throw fastballs down in the zone, breaking stuff down in the zone. Instead of making him a different pitcher, why not take what he does best and use his stuff at the top of the zone?"

Fantasy Tip: Bauer is 3-0 with a 2.01 ERA and 0.94 WHIP in six starts during the month of June, with 12 walks and 43 strikeouts over 44 2/3 innings. He should be started with confidence in all fantasy formats.

Cleveland Indians C Yan Gomes is not in the starting lineup against Atlanta Braves SP John Gant Monday, June 27. C Chris Gimenez will start at catcher and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Gimenez has four hits in his last four games but is still hitting only .161 this month. Owners probably should avoid Gimenez in all fantasy leagues.

Cleveland Indians C Yan Gomes is not in the starting lineup against Detroit Tigers SP Jordan Zimmermann Friday, June 24. C Chris Gimenez will start at catcher and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Gimenez has two hits in his last three games but is hitting only .111 so far this month. Owners in most leagues should be able to find better players to use.

Indians | Cleveland resting two starters

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 13:57:09 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Yan Gomes and OF Rajai Davis are not in the starting lineup against Tampa Bay Rays SP Chris Archer Wednesday, June 22. C Chris Gimenez will start at catcher and is batting eighth. INF Jose Ramirez will start in left field, while 3B Juan Uribe will start at third base and is batting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Gimenez is hitting only .173 this season and should be avoided in most leagues. Uribe is hitting .412 with four home runs and seven RBI over the last seven days and should be a starting option because of his recent hot streak.
