"His body's shutting down," coach Mike Tice said. "His whole [lower abdomen] is shutting down. He can't change directions, he can't run, he can't do anything." C Cory Withrow will replace Birk as the team's starting center. Birk could return for the Dec. 24 game against the Green Bay Packers, according to Tice.
